This review is from: ASUS ROG G75VX 17.3" Gaming Notebook with Intel Core i7-3630QM 2.40Ghz (3.40Ghz Turbo), 8GB DDR3 Memory, 1TB HDD, Nvidia GeForce GTX 670MX , DVDRW, HD Webcam, Bluetooth 4.0, Windows 8
Pros:
-Able to play every game I throw at it and has had no problems keeping up. The 670mx makes short work of anything I toss at it, same with the i7 processor.
-1TB of storage along with a 1080p screen? Love it.
-Pleased with all of that.
-Computer arrived in what looked like nearly brand new condition.
-Keyboard feels nice to use.
-Ports work, all very speedy in general
-Touchpad is fairly nice to use.
-Computer arrived ahead of schedule.
Cons:
-The screen itself is either poor quality or mine is just poor. I have black lines that run through the screen whenever I look at something dark in contrast. Upon a quick internet search, this seems to be a common problem among this series.
-Backlight keys refuse to work, no matter how much tinkering I do with uninstalling and reinstalling things. I believe that it's at the hardware level right now. This seems to be less common.
-Windows 8 came inactivated, but after a short, automated call to Microsoft, that was fixed. Still disturbingly arrogant to ship something out like that.
-No optimous technology.
-Heavy weight, but that's mainly for fans.
-Arrived in a box with little to no lining to keep it from getting damaged in transit.
-Loads of bloatware that's NECESSARY to keep the computer running properly.
Overall Review:
Overall, I'm pleased with the performance of the computer, but extremely displeased with the quality and condition that it arrived in. I do understand the refurbished does not mean new, but it means that it should not have problems with the screen, the keyboard, the operating system, and so on.
If the actual problems (screen, keyboard, etc) did not exist, I would change my rating in a heartbeat (up to around 4 or 5 eggs), however, the G75VX series seems to be plagued with these issues. and (usually) go unresolved from a single RMA. I have these issues and the fact that I'm probably going to have to RMA is an extreme turn away.
I would recommend this product, but be cautious. You don't know the real condition until you notice the subtle things.
