SAPPHIRE FleX Radeon HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card OC with Boost 100352FLEX-2
  • 3GB 384-Bit GDDR5
  • Core Clock 860MHz
  • Boost Clock 925MHz
  • 2 x DVI (1 Single Link, 1 Dual Link) 1 x HDMI 2 x Mini DisplayPort
  • 1792 Stream Processors
  • PCI Express 3.0 x16

Pros:

This is a good card. The 3GB of VRAM help this card to outperform others during intense, high resolution scenes. To be honest, I haven't overclocked the card much. I simply haven't needed to. I'm sure this card will last me a generation past the new 280x's. The clock speed and video bus (384-bit) are more than enough for any current game on high settings (maybe half of the current games on ultra) and should work fine in future generations on a little lower settings.

Cons:

Noise!
I'm not sure if it is a design flaw, but i RMA'd my first card due to insane whining coming from my GPU under load. After that, I was careful not to make it too stressed. It seems to have worked, but it does still make some noise.

Heat- This card, when under load, can get relatively hot. I have seen it at 70-75 Celsius before. However, under normal load in a well ventilated case, it reaches an average, safe temperature.

Overall Review:

I paid $315 for this card. I also received a 4-in-1 game coupon. Now, with the newest cards coming out, I would say that it is still a decent value. the 280x performs on par with a 770 and a 7970GHz edition. This card usually is anywhere from 3-5 fps slower than those. If this card (some models are) drops below $200, I may have to pick up another one.

I suppose it is too late now, but if i could switch my card for the Vapor-X, I think I would. I don't see any bad reviews about the whining noise.
