Pros:

not much.

Cons:

painful to get working. manual poor, website poor (3 separate driver downloads with no tips as to which one you'd need)

Overall Review:

Finally got it to work. I switched to a new PCI-E slot, booted, then it FINALLY showed in Dev Mgr as Universal Serial Bus controller with yellow alert. I then right clicked it,Update Driver software, browsed their disc to \vli\vl80x (or was it win7\x64 dir below that? don't remember), got msg successfully installed Via USB Extensible host controller, but msg in systray said something didn't install. In Dev Mgr now yellow alert on "xHCI Root Hub 0", I again pointed it to that dir and it installed, and Dev Mgr showed clean. After reboot, installed xhci host controller driver v 4.30a I directly downloaded from VIA. (Spoke to their tech supp who said get it working with driver from their disc b4 updating the driver.) So far with my Western Digital external USB3.0 drive, got some flaky "no partition, format?" message I'd never gotten before in SmartWare, or SmartWare would freeze up. Updated Smartware, & haven't run into it again but I'm still leery and will continue to watch for drive issues, or system instability as others have encountered. Now if only I can find a cheap cable (to run from it) and a cheap 3.0 front panel assembly.
