This review is from: Cooler Master GeminII M4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Pros:
Nice heatsink with copper exposed to the actual CPU, good profile and does not block much of the Mobo.
Runs really cool.
Cons:
Does not fit AM3/+ sockets as stated, brackets are completely off dimensions height wise. Cooler will not install flush against the Mobo and rubber spacers are completely the wrong thickness. Fan is mounted loosely, which causes a tinny scratchy sound when running.
Overall Review:
I tried installing this on a Asrock AM3+ socket, then a Asus AM3 socket, both had the same issues and the brackets provided will not install flush to the board, causing the Mobo to bend if you keep trying to tighten the fasteners.
With some metal fabrication at my place of employment, different rubber spacers and modifying the fan mount, it now works just fine on my Asus AM3 socket, and idles at 29-31C and is super quiet; never saw over 40C while working and playing modest games.
I own the greater Gemini II 524 and that thing is amazing, I figured this lil brother model would be good as well but I was dead wrong.
Manufacturer Response:
Hello Matthew,
We apologize for the trouble that you are experiencing with the GeminII M4. The GeminII M4 does support the AM3+ socket since it has identical mounting as the AM2, AM2+, and AM3 sockets. Please contact us for a replacement accessory kit and further trouble shooting.
