Pleasantly Surprised. 01/29/2014
This review is from: Cooler Master Hyper T4 - CPU Cooler with 4 Direct Contact Heatpipes
Pros:
Easy install.
Fan pre-mounted
Decent Packaging
Dropped CPU temps from 49-51 Idle, 60+ load on AMD FX-6300 to Low (fluctuating) 30s Idle to 51 100% load on Prime95
*Temperatures are in Celsius
Cons:
Fan on AMD system is either top or bottom mounted. I knew this prior to purchase and this isn't a con only this cooler is subject to.
The fan isn't the best.
I think there can be some minor improvements to the quality for the MSRP.
Overall Review:
I'll rant about the AMD temperatures when I give my review over the FX-6300, but I must say I am positively tickled with the drop in temperatures with such an affordable cooler.
I'll spare everyone a lengthy review and get to the brass tax.
This is a terrific cooler to replace the factory JUNK shipped with your CPU! Please understand what I'm saying.
Purchase this to replace your terrible CPU cooler that comes with the CPU. This will improve your temperatures on stock speeds SIGNIFICANTLY! You can not go wrong doing this. It has a fair price when on sale and I believe is a fair, free of regrets purchase.
However, if you plan on seeing how far you can push your cpu, I'd go with a higher-end product. This cooler simply isn't of the same quality of "The Silent Ones" or "Phans."
The fan alone is one of the reasons this has the price it does, and that's not a bad thing. But is one of the reasons for the lower price. If you're planning on extreme overclocking, you're probably not even considering this, but I felt I should throw that out there.
With that aside, this is quite capable of handling a FAIR OC and keeping everything happy and friendly. No reason why you can't OC to your turbo boost speeds with this cooler and keep reasonable temperatures.
Bottom Line:
If you need to take the sizzle out of your CPU, grab it! Check your specs, ensure it fits within your limits, then buy it! No need to spend $75 or more for something that you only need to keep cool. As I stated, overclocking is a different story. Silence costs money.
