Great Option for space efficient upgrade 02/15/2014
This review is from: GIGABYTE GB-BXA8-5545 Mini-PC Barebone
Pros:
Solid design, space efficient, good combination of external ports for USB, HDMI. VESA mount is easy and solid, mad mounting to an ASUS monitor a snap. Much smaller than any Mini-ITX option I could build, and at a reasonable price. Integrated AMD APU with HD graphics make this unit a very nice option for HD video as well.
Oh yeah, and it is quiet, real quiet. There is a fan that cools the APU, but honestly, if I had not felt the air flow through the vents I would not have known it was on. When I first turned it on, nothing happened on the monitor and I really thought the unit was and out of box failure. I checked the monitors input and changed it to HDMI (defaulted to VGA), and saw that the BRIX had indeed booted and needed an OS. Great little unit.
Cons:
Would have been nice to get a external e-sata for storage, would also have liked the Wireless t be AC over N, but all in all nothing else.
