Works on the MAC 03/04/2014
This review is from: SYBA SY-ADA20079 InfoZone SuperSpeed USB 3.0 to SATA III Device Adapter Cable with AC Adapter
Pros:
I purchased these from another etailer. I have used them with many many different drives. I just picked up the Samsung 1TB 840 EVO and the speeds are close to 400MB/s. just under for write and over for reads. With my old SATA II Seagates I get 90MB/s so I can't complain. I also use a Seagate Constellation, and several 3.5" drives with them. I have abotu 4 or 5 of them now. I found the USB3.0 micro B connector to be troublesome for me so I have been using these rather than purchasing drive cases, since I can't find a 2.5" case that uses the full size USB 3.0 B connector. The website says MAC not supported, but I only have 2 Macbook Pro Retinas and it works great with both.
Cons:
The power supply takes up a huge amount of space on a power strip. The shape of the adaptor is just inconvenient at best. I do not know why adapters shaped this way even exist anymore. I prefer the edison plug to be sideways and the adapter body to be thin enough to plug an entire strip full of these. In fact I have several 3.5" drives and I have to use multiple strips with 2 adapters each, maybe 3 will fit, and that is a hassle.
Overall Review:
Worth every cent. For those that wrote negative reviews I think you got a defective unit or you can blame windows. Windows sucks. I spent 12 years being frustrated by windows before moving back to mac OS. I only wish Mac OS could run by default on my windows machines. They would be useful again.
