Decent Features, Horid SATA Support 03/07/2014
This review is from: ASUS Z87-A LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Pros:
Installed with a 4670k and 8GB Gskill memory. No overclock currently.
Initial start up fails to find any of my SSD's. (They worked on my old rig just fine)
Changed cables, changed SATA ports and nothing.
Feeling frustrated I give it one last restart.. It finds one of my drives and I furiously install win 7. Restart a few hours later after windows update and the drive is gone again.
Nothing changed, yet it's gone from BIOS.
Reboot one last time and it detects it.
I'm sensing a pattern here. It cannot be the bios as the board came with 1707 (newest build)
I also did not change any settings, everything stock.
Can anyone shed some light? I'm dreading the RMA process and am willing to guess the problem will persist even with a replacement board.
Cons:
Quick boot up (when my drives are detected), installation was a breeze and the board looks good visually.
Detects and works with my front panel for audio / USB ports.
Gigabit ethernet and onboard sound are adequate.
Overall Review:
I can't believe this is such a massive issue and no BIOS updates to be found. Guess I'll muddle through it.
