uSD works, reader fails in a few months

Pros:
Small size, very portable (key-chain), decent speeds.
Cons:
Reader/adapter (USB-uSD) portion (TR11A1) dies within a few months. I have had three of these, without fail (ha!) all readers died 8-14 months into use. uSD cards themselves are fine.
