Nice case for a home NAS 03/24/2014
This review is from: NORCO RPC-2212 Black 2U Rackmount Server Case with 12 Hot-Swappable SATA/SAS Drive Bays
Pros:
-12 hot swap bays
Plenty of room in the back section for your motherboard, -CPU, add in cards, and power supply
-Fans are reasonably quiet, yet move quite a bit of air
-Fans all wired together and have only 1 plug
-Sturdy construction
-I ordered it the day before a price hike
-LEDs bright enough to see, but not so bright that they illuminate the whole room
Cons:
-Not too much room between the backplanes and fans for routing of cables. Everything fits, but it's a bit tight
-Wires to the fans seem a bit thin
Overall Review:
If you're going to use this case with regular SATA connections from your motherboard/add in card, be sure to get a REVERSE SAS/SATA breakout cable. Looks just like a regular breakout cable, but is wired differently. A regular breakout cable will not work. Norco sells just the product you need, S-CFF8087-4S. Newegg was nice enough to take back the cables I incorrectly ordered, but it cost me return shipping, shipping for the right cables, and at least a week. Learn from my mistake!
I currently have 6 WD Red drives installed. I got this case with the future in mind - I can expand with 6 more disks when it gets full.
