Refurbished, but a decent PC for the money 12/06/2015
This review is from: HP 8200 Elite SFF Desktop PC - Core i5-2500 3.3GHZ, 8GB RAM 500GB HDD, Windows 7 Professional
Pros:
For everyday use, this PC will meet all your needs. Has a fresh version of windows 7 installed. Small footprint.
For gaming, this PC has an i5-2500, which is still a decent cpu. The 8GB is generic, but does the job. All you need is a videocard. I installed a Gigabyte GTX 750 TI 2GB low profile card and it is running with no issues. For $289.98 total, not a bad budget gaming desktop.
Cons:
This PC is refurbished, and it looks refurbished. There are scratches all over the place, the gray edge trimming is peeling, and inside there was dust everywhere. However, if this PC does break down (being refurbished), I feel I still got a good deal in parts, considering I get an i5-2500, 500 GB hard drive, and Windows 7.
Overall Review:
For those who are looking at upgrading (case, power supply, videocard, etc.), the power supply is 240W, and the motherboard does not have the standard 20+4 pin connector. The power supply is also a proprietary power supply, as it is installed over the hard drive on a hinge. Replacing it in the original case might be difficult.
The PC did come with an ATI videocard that has a proprietary DVI connection. I removed the card and used the onboard VGA connection for first startup. I installed the gigabyte GTX 750 TI 2GB low profile card after initial setup.
After the videocard upgrade, this PC is still a low range budget gaming desktop. Do not expect this to be anything more than that. If you want a true gaming desktop, be ready to spend this much on a cpu or gpu alone.
