Pros:

I have just ordered 2 more of these drives and hope that my success rate doesn't fail me. They are due delivery today by FEDEX. Western Digital has been my choice of Hard Drives as a Builder since 1985. I have had failures that traced back to new technology and me behind the times of technology that changes rapidly. I have had more success buying refurbished drives than new ones. I have had several hundred and still working. I retire drives for higher capacity. I have about 325 million files on accessable storage. I have determined that higher capacity drives fail mostly due to NEW technology running on OLD versions of Windows. If you run FULL capacity 2Tb drives, best to use a FULL version of Win10 64 bit, not a free upgrade from Win7 or 8.1. Free upgrade tries to use old drivers written for 16 or 32 bit machines and force failures that incorrectly formats 64 bit technology. I retired older 32/64 bit machines for full 64 bit and have few problems with Win10 pre-installed. Took a hit on the old machines in exchange for lots of aggravation. Hope this helps others that are having failures and DOA like I have had in the past.

Cons:

Anyone including myself having Hard Drive Failures are always a NEGATIVE and I have had only a 10% success of reviving a drive that was incorrectly partitioned and formatted. I am not inclined to mess with returning a drive to Western Digital for the hassle. Many in my junk pile in hopes that someday there will be an adequate HD revival software that is affordable compared to cost of drives. 250 and under drives are waste in today's world just because of the amount of refresh memory available. Sometimes with older machines, adding a 3 mb buffer partition on the front and back of a high capacity drive with NO drive letters and make middle partiotion as drive C helps having a beginning and ending end of capacity drive termination. Can't prove it is a guarantee but worked in a very few cases for me.

Overall Review:

Older versions of Windows REQUIRE multiple partitions of 1tb & 2tb or larger unless you use upgraded drivers (some versions can not be upgraded to handle large capacity drives running on < than 64bit machines). Western Digital WILL redo your drives out of warranty if you will call them with the serial # and you pay the shipping. Always REGISTER your NEW drives with WD and they can see you are prudent with maintaining records. Now retired, technology is fast fleeing my brain, LOL!
