This review is from: GIGABYTE Radeon RX 480 8GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 ATX Video Card GV-RX480WF2-8GD
Pros:
- 8GB of GDDR5 @ Max Speed.
- DX 12 & Vulkan API support built in.
- 150w TDP, although AMD's version of TDP is different from other companies like Intel or Nvidia. 150w is the average power draw, it might draw more, or less depending on the load. This is a massive improvement over previous gen AMD cards. The Performance per watt has improved tremendously. To give perspective an R9 280X has a TDP of 250W yet it's performance is no where near what this card is able to put out.
- Price - $250 is the MSRP for this 8GB variant of the RX 480. I pick it up for $225 for an aftermarket solution. Anything that offers an aftermarket cooler and is under MSRP is a fantastic deal to me.
- This cards performance target is 1080p Ultra with a solid 60 fps and it delivers, assuming the rest of your system is up to spec. Regardless, for the price, this card has solid value and should meet your needs if your target performance level is what was previously stated.
- Supports AMD's Freesync Tech.
Cons:
- Only UEFI, no Legacy Bios option, so using this on an old board is out of the question even though every other standard meets the requirements.
