ASUS customer service and this product 12/18/2016
This review is from: ASUS ROG Crosshair V Formula-Z AM3+ AMD 990FX + SB950 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Gaming Motherboard with 3-Way SLI/CrossFireX Support and UEFI BIOS
Pros:
I could not get sound from this board. I had the same problem with a ASUS 990 FX Sabertooth some years back. That was a hardware issue. ASUS's rude technician's solution was to disassemble my new build and RMA the board or install a sound board which I did. He was not a pleasant person.
WOW has ASUS customer service changed ----------- I called ASUS about this sound problem and they determined it was software. The technician stayed on the phone with me for AN HOUR AND A HALF, determined to resolve the issue which he finally did. This guy was GREAT, courteous and genuinly concerned. This is how customer service should be done. I read a LOT of reviews on Newegg and see many complaints about ASUS, based on my experience the other night, they must have enacted a new policy with new people because I was very satisfied with it.
Cons:
After all the hipe about the sound of this board, I just don't see it. There is a massive amount of settings to choose from and I've tried them all and the sound is still disappointing. When I play World of Tanks, it sounds like World of Pop Guns. Instead of powerful Booms, you get tinsy bangs. The sound card I put in my last build (ASUS XONAR DGX PCIE 5.1) sounded so MUCH better and probably spoiled me. I may need to install one here, in fact, I think I will.
Overall Review:
I am giving 5 eggs because of the service and the fact that if you haven't been spoiled bu a good sound card, this would probably sound pretty good, just not up to MY expectations.
