ABS M1 Heavy Duty Professional Gaming Mechanical Keyboard

Pros: Sturdy, heavy keyboard with a nice "clack". For the money, this is probably the best IBM Model-M imitator. And it looks a lot cooler.

Cons: Some may consider its 3+ pound weight to be a con.

Pros: Seems solid, sticky feet so it doesn't move on the desk, smooth action, cool braided usb cable.

Cons: Completely different feel from old-style mechanical key switch keyboards (model m, more recent uni comp).

Overall Review: I own two mechanical key switch keyboard from another manufacturer and this keyboard is a lot different. The clickiness on this keyboard comes from the keys bottoming out, not from a small click from the switch under the key. This is different than other mechanical keyboards because on those I can feel when I've pressed the key hard enough to register (the "click"). This keyboard feels more like a soft-key keyboard than a mechanical keyboard. If you are expecting a clicky keyboard whose switches make the clicking, look elsewhere. This is a small step up from your typical soft-key keyboards (with the rubber domes under each key) but it definitely isn't up to par with competing mechanical key keyboards. I would definitely spend more money to get the real deal next time. However, since I didn't pay much I can't complain too much.

Pros: First off, I'm a keyboard freak. It's really rare to find a keyboard with cherry blue stem that are not: - international layout - flimsy cords (i'm talking about scorpio, which the cords came off easily - reasonable! For this, I thank you. I have a picture of pulled keys to prove it's cherry blue stem mechanical switches.

Cons: Non, except I wish they offer a version without the num pad on the right. Most keyboard enthusiasts don't want it and it takes up too much space where the mouse should go. I'll buy a few more if they offer a version with less than 90 keys.

Overall Review: These are the cherry blue stem key switches, which you can research about. Basically they click really nicely, much more solid clicks than the ALPS switches (think Northgate omnikeys) and requires much lighter touch than IBM buckling spring (M type) clicky keys. clicks are important for typing accuracy in high speed.

Pros: Uses black non-click ALPS key switch. Black ALPS key switch is produced in Taiwan. Good for entry level.

Cons: Poor customer service. ABS does not respond to my emails.

Pros: - Build quality of the keyboard is up to par with competitors - Cherry switches (literally the same exact feel and response from the keys from that of similar mechanical switch keyboards priced twice as expensive as this one) - Accurate registering of keys and the order of which they're pressed in.

Cons: As reviewed and stated by previous users who have purchased the keyboard....the LEDs for Num{Caps,Scroll}Lock are extremely bright when looking straight down at them (at an angle light dispersion is reduced). Other than that though there really are no flaws with the design and implementation of this keyboard design.

Overall Review: I use a gel wristpad bought seperately with this keyboard and the two products work out great.

Pros: I had an amazingly difficult time deciding on a dedicated gaming keyboard. I looked at offerings from Razer, Microsoft, Everglide, Logitech and everything in between, but they all felt superficial. They were big on features that I did not want or need, and little on build quality and key response. I play mostly FPS games, and honestly, there is nothing in the profile that I would not just set up inside the games profiles, and to me, macro's are kinda like cheating, I just can't support that functionality. What I wanted more than anything was an old school heavy keyboard with medium key travel, and minimum roll over for quick presses and response time. Boy's, this is it. Its heavy, its clicity clack is satisfying, its tactile response is much better than the Microsoft and Logitch keyboards that I have been using, its just an Old School gamers dream. Everything you need in a keyboard, and absolutely nothing you don't.

Cons: Not a con for me, because I would not care for it so much, but I would like to see ABS take the identical keyset, and apply some lighting to it. I think it would be a hit.

Pros: Loud, ringing reverberation is just like keyboards of old PC clones not made by IBM (see Cons). The keyboard is only a little larger than the keys take up. This is a major bonus if you like small keyboards but don't want to compromise on keys. FULL SIZE caps lock key for Unix people who remap CTRL to caps lock. This is rather rare on any keyboard (and I am still searching for a Model M clone with full-sized caps lock either). The keyboard is nice and heavy as nature intended, with amazing, grippy rubber feet (and really good rubber on the risers, too, also rare). Stiff, solid, and a very tasteful matte black finish that isn't painted on (the plastic is black).

Cons: The case reverberates a bit with a ring. Your table may amplify or muffle it. I don't happen to care but you might. This is not a Lexmark Model M keyboard clone and does not pretend to be. The reviewers who think this is a Model M are confusing this with another type of old-school "clicky" keyboard.

Overall Review: This type of keyboard is not the same as a Model M. The clicking noise comes from the keys landing, not from the (very faint) click in the key mechanisms themselves. However, the click happens at the moment of keystroke actuation which gives this a nice touch. I didn't feel any of the "halfway down" actuation some other reviewers claimed. This keyboard is an excellent a clone of those "other" clicky keyboards that came with Compaq IBM PC clones in the late 1980s and early 1990s. I have about twenty real IBM/Lexmark Model M keyboards in various states of repair. Those boards click loudly as the key is struck and also when the key hits the back plate. This one only really clicks when it hits the back plate. If you had a PC clone in the late 1980s or early 1990s you know this feel. I think some people call it the "Cherry" feel. It's not better or worse than the Lexmark Model M; it is just different.

Pros: Well built solid mechanical keyboard.

Cons: It's kinda loud. If that doesn't bother you, you're golden. Personally, I returned it and got a Scorpius M10 which is clicky but not as loud.

Overall Review: This keyboard is not clicky, but the keys make a lot of noise when you type as they bottom out. Unless you sleep with your keyboard, the lights are not too bright (but I wouldn't stare into the light for extended periods of time).
