Monitor connection is USB-C.  Does the laptop or pc require to have a USB-C connection as well?

It comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable for the video. You will have to purchase an adapter or cable with the correct connections.

Will this work as a monitor for the Nintendo Switch?

I don't know if it will work for the Nintendo Switch console, but it does NOT work for the Nintendo Switch Lite. When I connected my Lite to the monitor using the USB-C cable, the monitor just flickered and then said no information to display. It also does NOT work with my Pixel 2. The monitor does work with my Windows laptop though. I hope that helps!
