Is this an IPS display, how is the viewing angle?

Simple answer: No, though it is a very good screen IMO and I do CG work, but also have a dedicated monitor for viewing anything i think might need adjustment...... Viewing angles, more then sufficient... unless someones like..... looking almost directly from the side....or from behind it...if your looking at it... and its facing you...you will be fine.

Does this model have a CD drive? Concerned about purchasing additional software and being able to install it via CD.

It does not have any sort of disc drive.

Acer lists this at 1366 x 768. Kind of a bummer it's not 1080P with this much GPU horsepower. But on the bright side, at 1366 x 768 the frame rates will always be high. Will just need to make sure Anti-Aliasing is turned on when gaming.

Can this do crossfire for a total of 768 shaders?

From Acer: "AMD doesn't typically refer to this specific setup as Crossfire since that's reserved for multiple dedicated graphics cards, but this model does have what they call Dual Graphics, and the APU and dedicated card do work together" -- So yes, you can get a combined total of 768 shaders on this laptop. Even at DDR3 memory speeds, this has got to be a better gaming option than the intel/nvidia combos.
