Is this device compatible with android apps?

UPDATE 2018-03-18: YES. I got one of these over a year ago, and a few weeks ago mine got updated (automatically, of course) and now I can run apps, just like on my phone.

The battery is non-replaceable by the consumer, correct? Is it a new battery, or is it the original? Thanks.

I don't see a way to open it easily to replace the battery - so far the battery has worked fine, so I'm assuming it's the original?
