I have ordered a ssd and a sata cable to install a secondary storage. Could someone tell me where I should connect the sata cable to the motherboard? I opened the back cover but I don’t see any extra slots.

One internal drive only.  No cable needed.
If you need a second drive, use a small external 2.5" USB 3 enclosure and install the drive in that.

Two Monitors - Can you run two external monitors from the laptop?

The laptop has a single external HDMI out port.  Therefore, the answer would be no, unless you have a splitter for HDMI, but then I suspect the displays would be duplicates.  However, you can display the  external HDMI output and laptop screen at the same time.  If you are looking to span a desktop across two monitors using a single HDMI output, I don't believe it will work.  However, i do think the HDMI output supports 4K resolution so you could use one very big monitor.

Is this considered a gaming laptop?  Its for my son who thinks he is a gamer :-)   Is the keyboard backlit?

This laptop does have a video card in it and not just the onboard video.  This should be able to handle lightweight games just fine, but I would not recommend for high end games.

How easy is it to upgrade the RAM? What's the max amount that can be upgraded?

Fairly easy and can be upgraded to 12 GB RAM.

Is the SSD a 2.5"? If not, is there ROOM for a 2.5" drive and does it have a SATA connector?

There is an additional bay for a 2.5" SATA drive (in other words, it has room for 2 HDDs). The factory-installed drive is not easily accessible, but you can open the bay to upgrade to a second drive by just using a phillips head screwdriver.
