Pros: First off, I am going ahead with a review before powering it on as I have a lot to say as a first impression. I have a mixed bag of feelings here, so bare with me. My fist real good opinion I want to make is of how light and small this desktop is. The form factor here is definitely on par for either a dorm room or a small office space.. Don't let the photos fool you. I was expecting a pretty big case. Dual HDMI out of the box and it looks to have potential and for the price. The packaging was nice, came with a wired mouse and keyboard and I cannot wait to benchmark it to see what power is under the hood straight out the box. 3 SATA ports with 2 populated. Has room for two sticks of RAM, but I have a gripe which I will explain later. A decent GPU could fit here, but I have another gripe here as well.
Cons: I have more questions than answers. First off, the motherboard is a custom solution for this computer. Its not to say you couldn't relocate the MOBO for another case, but it just seems awkward. No M.2 drive port that I can find, and that's pretty bad giving the fact that the older versions of some of ACER's products support it. The PSU (power supply) is a SSF (small form factor) so no real way to replace it with a tradition ATX version, unless you get a new case or buy another SFF of more power. Which leads me to wonder, if there is a 4pin for the motherboard, why only a 6pin for everything else? No Standard 24pin connector. Is this a Form Factor thing? What am I missing? 1 single stick of 8GB RAM (DDR4 2666 MHz) I feel just won't cut it. I could be proven wrong, but that seems kind of lack luster. Not to mention the Slots for the RAM is so close to the PCI-e slot that a full size GPU (graphic's card) will have a hard time clearing it. 251mm max at best maybe or if you find a low profile version of a GPU, but its going to choke as there is no real air flow for this case. Just a perforated side and no exhaust fan. Would it of killed them to have added a 80mm fan for this price?
Overall Review: Keep in mind, that this is my impression of it before I even power it on. I am kind of puzzled by the design choices here. Lack of M.2 and the confusing layout of the hardware choices just baffles me. Again, the case looks and feel great, its lightweight, sturdy and would please a teen for college or a good entertainment center with its design, but anything other than that, I am just not sure. The upgrade path here seems almost non-existent, and potential seems lackluster. I may re-edit this once I power it on and test it with a different case, PSU and a full size GPU but I am really concerned for this Computer at this price. *EDIT* After calling Customer Service, it seems most of the models in this line up only have the 300W PSU and it cannot be upgraded. So, you are limited in that regard, so make use of low powered GPU's. The one picture that shows a full ATX PSU, is misleading. I am going to give it a chance and see what it can de despite the stock PSU. Still has some potential with up to 32GB of DDR 4 2666 MHz (max) and possibly a GTX 1650, (even though my last rig had an RX 580 8GB) My Score for this is still unchanged *EDIT2* So, I have discovered a few flaws with this system. You only have space for 1 3.5"HDD and 1 2.5" SSD. Pretty bad when all I have is two 3.5 HDD. The cage isn't marked as such so I had to pull everything out just to see if I could add another Harddrive. To make matters worse, to connect another Drive, you will need a proprietary plug for the MOBO to the drive itself for power, so forget adding another drive until you order this stupid connecter. The system is pretty laggy for the specs. It seems to chug hard trying to open web pages. I am not sure if its the CPU or RAM to blame here, but it takes it a while for everything to catch up. I am still going to give it the benefit of the doubt when I add another stick of RAM and a GPU, but I don't expect anything fantastic. If you want something Plug&Play, Office use, or maybe a media center buy it. If you are looking for something to possibly game on, stay away. I cannot recommend it at this price and form factor. Score lowered due to manufacture oversite
