I have been reading most of the reviews and they were not very positive when it comes to upgrades.  I want to upgrade the video card and sound card   What are your recommendations at a reasonable price that would not cost me a arm/leg?

Yes, this is NOT an ATX standard PC and very little can be expanded easily. If your trying to use it as a gaming platform, you will be very disapointed. All the device trays are custom, power supply is only big enough to run the current config and not much more. Of course the power suppy connectors are NOT ATX which means you have to purchase additional adapters cables to add a larger supply.

I'm now sorry I bought it, as an ATX ASUS came up a few weeks later for $20 more and I couldn't return it without paying for the return shipping. I'm going to use an existing ATX PC as an expansion cabinet and run SATA and USB cables between the boxes just to access my existing hardware. At some point, I know I'm going to have to change the mobo as this one only has three expansion slots. Probably the cabinet at some point to.

All that said, its still a powerfull machine for a good price, just don't expect to upgrade the hardware without a fair amount of "cluging".

the spec. says that it is  but not a desk top drive but a smaller laptop drive should work just fine thou( 8X DVD-SuperMulti Double-Layer Drive)  also someone said that the power supply can not be upgraded so better video card can not be added very well

can the graphics be upgraded to nVidia?

it's a love-hate relationship with the on-board graphics.  it will actually run three monitors simultaneously right out of the box (VGA/HDMI/Display Port), but if you need a powerful graphics card this ISN'T it...  you only have one expansion slot so choose wisely...  you CAN add an additional video card for better performance, but be aware that a lot of the high-end cards require additional power and this system doesn't provide it.  But...  you CAN get an adapter to get power to it, so pick one up while you're card shopping.   Performance-wise, the system gives you a lot of bang for the buck, but the graphics system will need to be upgraded for graphics intensive work.

It comes with windows 8 and this software is a nightmare. I would recommend a computer with windows 7. Windows 8is like nothing you have used before.

It has both NVIDIA High Definition Audio and VIA High Definition Audio.  Any speakers should work except bluetooth.  There is no built-in bluetooth, but you could plug an adapter into a USB port.

I bought this computer in August and love it.

The only problem I had with the audio was with a USB headset.  It works fine in the back ports but not in the front.  Not sure if this was a USB problem or some driver issue.  Both my head set and web cam plug into the back and work great, so I use the front one for USB drives and such.

What speed is the memory?

I don't know. The system seems pretty quick to me. I upgraded to Windows 8.1 shortly after I got the system.  The computer itself is very quiet. I cannothear the fans or the hard drives. I moved the 1.5 GB drive from my old computer to this one very easily because there is a neat slide in hard drive holder for SATA drives that is accessible form the front.
