There is not a access panel for the RAM or HD.  One would have to take the entire back cover off.  This machine is minimally upgrade-able (even the 1 - USB2 port does not work - disabled from factory).

I have a second hard drive attached to mine I use for storage as well as a backup. If you have a free USB port this is indeed possible.

Mine doesn't seem to be working. It is refurbished. Either it doesn't work or I haven't figured it out yet. However, this is the info provided in the description:
