As far as I can tell, it's matte with anti-glare. There is a cross-hatching that can be see on certain lighter backgrounds if you look carefully which I've read is the anti-glare coating. Not really that noticable to me as I work...

Question 3

Does anyone have an issue with this monitor when displaying it at full resolution 2560x1440?

I am using a macbook air 2013, with mini displayport to displayport cable running at full resolution, and always have a 1/2 inch letter box or border around my screen.  I can't scretch the display at all, and if I put down the resolution the letterbox still stays.

I don't think its the cable as I have this same setup on another macbook air.  I have yet to find anyone with this same issue.  Are both my acer monitor's defective?

hi erik, yah i am running the external monitor with the macbook air lid closed, and double checked the external monitor display is in fact the primary.

i also tested with the lid open, and it appears to be the same display letter box for the external monitor.

i tested out hdmi connections and they fill the screen properly, the weird thing is when i reboot the computer, the boot screen (when its grey with the apple logo) fills the whole screen without the letter box, but when you get to login, it goes back to having the letter box.

the resolution i have is in fact 2560x1440, but its really weird why the screen would be projected with this letter box!

Does your monitor emit any buzzing or ringing noise?

Sometimes when there is a lot of white on the screen it does make a high pitch buzz noise.  If I reduce the white or brightness (like close the window containing white) it seems to go away or reduce to where I can't hear it.  Another noise thing I noticed is when you first turn on the monitor, the plastic sounds like its heating up with slight clicks and cricks (imagine a tiny car engine cooling down or  a mini radiator heating up pings but on plastic).  I like the monitor (I bought 2) and the extra screen resolution beyond 1080p is nice but it is not a perfect monitor.

I have a very old ATI Radeon HD 3200 display adapter (with a single DVI out connector) on an old HP desktop running Windows Vista Ultimate.  Can I make this monitor work, or am I going to have to get a new display adapter?  If the latter, can anyone recommend an adapter that is relatively small form factor and will work on Vista?
Please don't tell me to just get an entirely new system.  I would, but I have a bunch of old peripherals that I still need for various reasons, and they don't have driver support past Vista.

It will NOT work on Single DVI for the high res display. It will only achieve 1080p which is not what this monitor is for. In order to get 2560x1440, you need a DUAL DVI out or display port on your system.

Does the monitor has Audio Jack/Audio output ? I want to plug my headphone directly to the monitor. If it has, is there any buzzing or something wrong ?

Yes, it does i have not found anything wrong with it , but i would recommend you use your computers audio jack if it has one.

Can this monitor support full 2560x1440 resolution via its HDMI port? Please let me know if anyone tested this successfully.

So I got 3 of those, and hooked them up to a macbook pro running windows 7. I can confirm that:
- Full 2560x1440 resolution is supported via HDMI. Make sure you have a high-speed cable, and that your video card supports it, and that you have a proper driver.
- Display Port daisy chaining also works. One Thunderbolt 2 port can drive two of those monitors daisy-chained at full resolution. Daisy-chaining a third one also works, but the last monitor only provides 1920x1080. This could be a video card limitation, a TB2 limitation, or something else. I ended up driving 2 monitors on the first port, and one more monitor on the second TB port. Running in clamshell mode - opening the lid and enabling the built-in panel disables one of the external monitors.

Is this panel overclockable to 120hz like the QNIX? Also why did you choose this over the QNIX?

Unfortunately I don't know about the QNIX.  I was looking for a discount on the Apple LED Cinema Display, and that was my main criteria.

I haven't overclocked a monitor before, so i'm not sure.  Sorry I can't be more help.

I can say that once Acer fixed the DisplayPort input (mine was dead onarrival), and once I added an active DVI-D adapter, I've had no problems with the display.  I was also surprised that HDMI 1.4 could drive 2560x1440 - but that means I get native res on all three inputs.

What type of USB cable is needed to hook up the USB 3.0 hub?  Is it a 3.0 USB A to USB B micro?  Or is it a 3.0 USB A to A?

It needs a USB 3.0 A. I have not tried it yet, but I just looked at it.
