Acer P243WAid 24" WUXGA 1920 x 1200 D-Sub, DVI LCD Monitor with HDCP Support

Pros: Well it is a very nice (light weight) monitor. I have bought the HP24 inch with the same type of specs and I see this one is better in some ways but worst in others. THe HP has terrible side to side viewing angles, this one is 100% better. Vertical viewing is about the same, not as good as I have seen on some 170 and 176 monitors. Overall if your looking for a big 24" glossy finish screen you really can't go wrong here. THe warranty is 3yrs compaired to the 1yr you get with HP!

Cons: This monitor out of the box needs some tweaking to make it look good. At first when I enabled the ACM I hated it but now I know why. You loose your Brightness controls when you enable it. LOWER it down first then enable it. After that you can fine tune it with the contrast levels. At first is makes everything so contrast that it looks like a first gen LCD monitor. I have mine set to 31 on Contrast and 30 on Brightness then I went into the color managament and set the red blue green up. If you do photo and video work a spider calibrator is a MUST.

Overall Review: Good for the price and with that said I think it is better than my 560.00 HP monitor. . .

Pros: Bright. Great contrast. Attractive. Not heavy. Light bleeding is not a problem. Deep blacks and excellent whites. Really these monitors are great. They're the monitors that stand out at the store. Games look fantastic. I'm shocked at the value, and with free shipping (at least at the time) this is a steal. I bought two of them, both arrived the next day. I'll never stop shopping with Newegg, and as of right now I'm sold with Acer as well.

Cons: No height adjustment; for me they sit a little low. However, this is better than them being too tall. You can always put them on top of something, but you can't exactly just shave the stand off. As for me, I'll just have to get used to them being low. Clearly, it's not a major flaw.

Overall Review: I got two of these monitors at a resolution of 1920x1200. That's 4,608,000 pixels. One pixel was stuck at blue. "Was" -- it was fixable. 0.0000002% rate of failure, corrected to 0%. If you're considering these monitors, I'd say your odds of having no stuck/dead pixels are pretty good.

Pros: Huge. Bright, crisp and clear at 1920x1200. So crisp, in fact, that my DVDs look pretty aweful on it (oh well, on to Blu-Ray). Excellent color reproduction. I use my system for gaming primarily (where the 2ms response and high contrast really shine) and also for graphic/web design work, and it's excellent for both. I've fired up HalfLife2, Doom3, FarCry and UT03 on full settings, with absolutely no ghosting. I'm very impressed, though I may have to upgrade my 7900GS gpu before taking on Crysis, CoD4 or Bioshock (see other thoughts). ZERO dead or stuck pixels, it's in pristine order. No extra fluff like weak speakers or ports I'll never use, which help keep the price down. HD support is what sold me in the end, since I consider this a long-term purchase.

Cons: As of this posting, no professional reviews exist for this monitor. Since this is a 24" and a TFT panel, the viewing angles aren't great, but I was prepared for this going in. In most applications and games the color shift isn't noticeable, but definitely is on a black screen. Not a tragedy, since I always look the monitor dead on anyway. I'm disappointed that the blacks aren't quite as dark as I'd like, but then I've been using a 19" Trinitron CRT since 2000, so that's expected. That said, in the three days since it arrived I've had time to get used to it and I don't much notice it now. Because of the angle and blackness issues, this monitor is less than ideal for design work, but ideal costs $700+ and this is more than adequate. Lastly, as others have said, it's extremely bright on default settings - I had to do a lot of tweaking before I didn't feel like an image was being burnt into my eyeballs (I'm picky). But once calibrated properly, it looks amazing.

Overall Review: I've always thought LCD monitors were inferior to CRTs in nearly every respect, and did a ton of research before buying. The rave reviews from other NewEggers definitely proved useful and accurate. I also did a lot of price comparisons as well. You simply can't find a 24" monitor with this high response time, contrast ratio and color spectrum for under $500 right now. I would have preferred an S-IPS panel, but I can't justify $700+ for a monitor, and in this case, the pros (2ms, 3000:1, 1920x1200, 24") highly outweigh the cons (sub-par viewing angle, weaker blacks) for my uses. Last, I will say that I feel like I may need to upgrade my GPU to an 8800GT, since I'm now experiencing a lower framerate than I'm used to - but since I'm now viewing at double the resolution as before I'm surprised it looks as smooth as it does. Overall, this is a GREAT monitor with tons of wow factor. Highly recommended, just go into it with your eyes open.

Pros: Big, Glossy, Easy to set up, EXCELLENT picture. Overall just a really good 24" monitor for the asking price. It simply dwarfs my other monitors.....the 21" WS Acer, the 19" Dell lcd, and the 21" Viewsonic CRT. And it has a better picture than them all. No dead/stuck pixels, like an earlier review said, it really helps to immerse you into the game if that's what you're getting it for. You won't be dissapointed with any of the current popular games, plus it's HDMI port means you can simply plug a PS3 into it and you're good to go. I'm loving this monitor.....I think I'll name it Sally.

Cons: Very minor stuff, I do wish that it was more adjustable. It will only tilt forward or backward, no rotating or height adjustments on this monitor so if that's an issue then you might want to look into getting something to set this monitor on. 1 Egg knocked off due to this, but again it's pretty minor considering how nice the picture is...

Overall Review: Don't let the fact that this monitor isn't as adjustable as you might want it to be sway you from getting it. Monitor arrived in excellent shape on time....once the part of my order that's shipping from CA gets here (New P45 mobo, 4Gb RAM, vista 64ult, e8400, 850W PS) this monitor along with my 8800GTS 512mb and that stuff ought to make a pretty decent gaming computer. Definantly a step up from the single core socket 939 setup I've got currently.

Pros: Works great, even on Vistax64 despite other reviews... OS does not dictate whether a monitor will or will not work. If you are still uncomfortable, download the drivers.

Cons: None. Perfect for the price.

Overall Review: I am running windows vista x64 and the monitor works fine. Check your video card, cables, and lastly RMA the monitor. Do not set your Tech Level to High in the future.

Pros: After building a high-end gaming PC, I wanted a monitor that would put my computing power into pixels... 1920 x 1200 of them. So far, this monitor has been absolutely incredible. In my current configuration, I have my PC connected (4870 graphics card) via DVI and my XBOX 360 through VGA. The picture is awesome for both! I haven't noticed any ghosting or other display problems. The monitor is huge! I was dreading the infamous "I should have bought a bigger one" feeling, but this monitor did not disappoint. It is the perfect size for me and my desk.

Cons: Black shiny finish = dust and fingerprint magnet. It looks nice, but you have to clean it every couple of days to keep that piano finish. The bottom tends to be SLIGHTLY brighter than the rest of the monitor, but it is barely noticeable--you only see it if most of the screen is black. However, this small drawback does not detract from the amazing picture. No height adjustment-- really nit-picky, but it would be nice to have.

Overall Review: All in all, great product and I would recommend it to any PC/console gamer looking for in all-in-one solution.

Pros: You can't beat the price. HDMI input is a big + for future use or now. pre-Adjust mode is a nice touch. Beat having a 50" LCD 1080i sitting from 9ft away.

Cons: Color is off about 8% darker from print. This isn't really for a graphic designer who do prints work because the color is way brighter onscreen and you really need to buy an extra Calibration hardware to get the color right. Otherwise, this is an overall great LCD for gaming/movie. Having a monitor calibration will fix the color problem for prints work. You also find yourself switching to different mode like text, graphic, normal, movie mode all the time...

Overall Review: 5 egg then....5 egg now.

Pros: No useless addons like speakers. Great for type and movies. In no sense too big. I finally see the benefits of HDTV not noticable on a 32 inch flatscreen watched from 11 feet away in my bedroom.

Cons: Bonus features were not listed so you end up with more monitor than you planned for.

Overall Review: Great picture, great size. There were no dead pixels. After bad experiences with hard drives I now order everything with the longest warrentees available so the 3 year warrantee was a must. Some reviews complained about excessive brightness but the picure is only bright if you leave it set on it's default movie mode. If you use the menu to change it to Type mode the picture is not too bright. My model was described as comming with D-Sub vga and DVI connectors but also came with HDMI as a surprise bonus. Another surprise bonus was fully functional Energy Star compliance. Not having speakers I consider a feature since my last monitor had the usual bad speakers that crackled when my wireless phone was nearby. This monitor gives me that plus extra for Outlook or Word.
