Does a refurbished unit still come with G-sync?  I did not see it in the description.

G-sync isn't something extra you plug in or can remove, it's a technology that's built into the display unit that prevents screen tearing and promotes a smooth viewing experience.  This monitor will have G-sync regardless of whether it's refurbished or not.

Question 2

Can this monitor receive and display a 4K signal at the full 4K from a 4K bluray player via the HDMI port? or will it ONLY work via the Displayport?

With HDMI you'll be limited to 4K @ 30HZ.  DisplayPort allows for 4K @  60Hz

does your macbook have HDMI or display port? if not no.

also if you are using this for web browsing or streaming videos you should be fine, you will run into problems if you start to play games on it. Macbook pro may not be able to handle the high-demand games like witcher 3 on 4k resolutions.
