the product pictures show expansion slots...what are the expansions..?

The computer comes with a video card installed into an expansion slot.
On the motherboard there are several types of slots open for other additional devices. One device would be a sound card, a video card, USB card, network card and many more.
There are different types of slots too.
On the mother board there is one of each open: PCI, PCI-e 1x and PCI-e 16x.
There is two memory slots out of four that are open to add additional memory tot he motherboard too.

If I want to add another hard drive -- how many SATA ports on motherboard?  Are there any extra SATA power connectors on the power supply?

there are 4 SATA ports on the board with 2 still open. Yes there are additional SATA power connectors
