Can the stand be completely removed from the back of the monitor? (It looks like it can but I need to make sure) Thanks.

Yes. When you take the stand off, it reveals the Vesa mounting holes.

Question 2

If using Windows 10, what size (125%, 150%, etc.) are you using for your display setting? ... right click desktop > Display settings > Change the size of text, apps, and other items: ???%

I'm primarily considering this monitor for online research, reading, typing documents, etc. Gaming will be infrequent so my priority is clarity when it comes to reading text. Thanks.

* Windows 10 font is 150% (Recommended).  That size works well for everything but AutoCAD.  
* I mostly use the monitor for work, and I'm very happy with it.  
* There's a feature to reduce blue light which reduces eye strain; I didn't know how much I would use that feature, but it turns out I use it continuously.  I have two monitors side-by-side, and I find myself looking at the one with blue-light reduction.  
* 2K Resolution is great - you won't believe how many spreadsheet cells you can can display at once (64 rows x 37 columns in Excel with standard settings [A1:AK64]).  
* I might do some gaming on it eventually, but first I want to get an AMD video card to take advantage of FreeSync (I currently use Intel integrated graphics).  
* Bottom line:  I'm happy with the monitor.  Recommended.

Question 3

Has QC improved since its release? Are any of light bleed, ghosting, or dead pixels a problem?

I just purchased this monitor a few weeks ago, on July 9th. I did not notice any ghosting and the light bleed was minimal; about what you would expect for an IPS. However, on the second day of use I did notice a hot pixel and was unable to remedy the problem. So I started the RMA process and sent it back. Hopefully the next one will be okay. Hope this helps!

Will I be able to get 144Hz using an Nvidia 970?  Without the freesync, of course.

Yes you will be able to set the monitor for 144 hz. It will display at that frame rate assuming that the card can render the graphics.

Can you still get 144 refresh with a Nvidia card or must it be a free sync AMD card to get the top refresh rate?

You can run 144 hz if the video card supports display port 1.2 or higher regardless of brand. You will not get free sync though with Nvidia.
