do I need the CD resident after I load the software?

Accepted Answer

You don't need it, but it is bootable.  It has most common drivers built into it.  The advantage to making a boot  disk from the software after you have loaded it, is that it will add the drivers for any controllers you have added to that computer.  You may have just been asking if you have to leave it in the drive, and the answer is no.

is the software difficult to use, is the manual good?

The software, or user interface, is not great but it's easy enough to use and get the job done. They've tried to make creating backups simple, and it is, but if you need to make changes I found that some digging around is needed and those finer controls are not always obvious.

Can you set specifications for backups and different schedule times, back up boot drive and mass storage drives into different individual drives?

Yes, to all of the above.  Go to "My Disks" and click on "Options" to set up your schedule.  The 2016 version also will let you create a bootable Acronis disk that will permit you to install if your OS disk fails and you cannot get to your installed Acronis.

Will this software image NVME drives?

As long as it sees it a hard drive yes. I reimage my ssds all the time.

On the Features specifications for Acronis true image 2016 - 3PCs Is said it Protect up to five (5) computers - PC or Mac. Does the software protect  3 devices or 5 computers?

There are two separate products:  One is a license to protect 3 PC's or Macs and the other is a license to protect up to 5 PC's or Macs.  You buy one or the other or both.

do I need the CD if I need to restore ?

Accepted Answer

You only need the CD if you cannot boot into Windows and run Acronis from within Windows.  If you do not havec the CD, but can run Acronis from within Windows, you can make a rescue CD for that computer from within the Acronis program.  Google for how, or look for the instructions in the Acronis documentation.

Is this version compatible with WIN7?

Win7 is what I first beta tested this and it worked great. It is designed around Win7 & 10. It works also with WinXP 32 bit and all of the Win8 versions (not Vista). I believe Acronis is the best backup software out there currently and is very automated now.

Does this product contain a physical DVD to install software?

Yes, a disc comes in the box to install the program and during the install process it will check to see if there is an updated version available. My install updated and my clone process worked perfect. I went to a larger capacity drive swapped the drive booted up flawlessly.
