Question 1

To change from a wireless connection from my LG Smart TV to my Verizon router, my FIOS tech recommended that I buy a MOCA Ethernet Bridge, connect it by coax to the back my Verizon set-top box with a splitter, then connect from the splitter to my LG Smart TV with an Ethernet cable.  Will this device be good for that?

You will need to get a bi-directional two way coax splitter to use with this device.  Your main coax cable will go from the wall to the splitter.  Then run one coax line from splitter to the set-top box. The other (a male to male coax adapter) goes to the MOCA Ethernet Adapter.  The reason for doing so is you will lose VOD features if you don't split the signal first.  Once that is done you can run the ethernet cable to your TV.  RCA makes a splitter and you need a male to male connector to hook up the splitter directly to the MOCA Adapter.  This set up has been working great for me with FIOS.  I run the ethernet cable to a Netgear 5 port switch so I can run ethernet to PS4 and AV receiver.  Hope this makes sense and helps.

Question 2

I have Comcast with a room in my house that has poor wi-fi. That room has coax cable output from the wall and seems to work with a cable box. Can I use this so I can go from coax cable to this device and ethernet cable going from this device to my computer? The existing router is too far away to plug in to.

This is what I use this device for.  We have a PS4 that has both a Wi-Fi antenna and a port for a Cat V cable.  The PS4 is next to the TV of course but our router is on the other side of the house.  I split the Verizon coaxial cable where it comes into the house and run a cable from the splliter into the Actiontec.  I run a Cat V cable  from the Action into the PS4.

The other cable from the splitter runs into the cable box. You can also run both a coaxial from the Actiontec to your cable box and an ethernet cable from the Actiontec to your computer.

Short answer yes you can run a coax into the Actiontec and a Cat V/ethernet cable into your computer.  Works great.

Question 3

I want a device that I can plug a network cable from my router, and transmit the signal through a coax cable that is not connected to the incoming cable signal, a stand alone cable.  I would like to be able to connect at the other end of the cable, another router as an access point, wired or wireless.  I realize the second router will be limited for speed, but bandwith is not the issue, steady signal is.  Will this product accomplish this?

Yes but you need two, one for each end.  This is how I use mine today.

Instead of MOCA adapters you may be better off looking at DECA Adapters which are significantly less expensive and do the same thing.

The main difference is DECA is compatible with lines used by satellite (uses frequencies of cable tv) and MOCA is compatible with lines used by Cable TV (Uses Satellite frequencies).

Also make sure if you use any spliters or adapters that they do not filter the corresponding frequency as some are made for satellite and some for Cable.

I am building a PC but only have a coaxail cable in the room I am currently renting. Could this be used to take the coax signal and connect it to my PC through ethernet?

My experience is with connection to a Verizon FiOS service router via MoCA over coax. Using the adapter in this scheme allows LAN & Internet connectivity everywhere my coax runs in the house. The coax acts as a network "backbone" or "vertical cross-connect". The adapter connects to the FiOS coax, and your PC connects to the adapter via a UTP straight-thru ethernet CAT5/6 cable. The FiOS router is connected somewhere along the coax backbone. Make sure you buy the latest version of the adapter (running the most recent MoCA standard). Go to the adapter's website and check compatibility with your specific router and type of internet service you have (FiOS versus cable modem Comcast, or Satellite service).

Will this work with MoCA Gateway from Comcast?

Sorry I have FIOS but everything I have read online states that that Comcast uses MoCA with there routers and the only thing you would need to go is enable it in the router settings.

I have AT&T U-verse Internet with their 8 y/o b/g Wi-Fi router (which btw I've requested they upgrade when they come fix my connection tomorrow).  I'd like to: a) use one of these connected with Ethernet cable to my AT&T U-verse Internet Wi-Fi Router and with Coax cable to the closest Coax cable wall outlet (which presumably is no longer connected to any network outside the house since I no longer have cable service), b) use a 2nd one connected with Coax cable to the Coax cable wall outlet in another room and with Ethernet cable to a TV and/or Blu-Ray Player in that room to get better internet speed for streaming access.  Currently, I have 12 Mbps down Internet which works fine for 2D 1080P streaming (via Web or Netflix) but chokes and dies on 3D (Netflix via Sony Blu-Ray) streaming.  Is that possible and would it solve my 3D streaming problem?

This will not solve your problem. 1080P streaming requires a stable 10mbps downstream connection to the content provider (Netflix/Amazon/Vudu). I think it's safe to assume that 3D content will be even more bandwidth intensive, thus your bottleneck isn't between your router and Blu-Ray player but rather your internet connection. Even with an 8 y/o router that's only b/g you can push about 25-30mbps fairly reliably over the air assuming 1) you're not in a cogested metropolitan area, 2) you're and not too far away from the router (maybe 30-40 ft. or so), and 3) not too many people are using the Wi-Fi at the same time. But if you upgrade your internet to something that is more similar to cable speeds (Comcast/Cox/Time Warner) or higher, you'll probably want to upgrade that router anyway since you're about 3 Wi-Fi generations behind. Upgrade your internet connection 1st, your router 2nd, and if that still doesn't solve the problem, then try one of these bad boys.

Question 7

Can this adapter be used to split an OTA signal? I want to connect my coax OTA antenna to the in coax on the adapter, then using the out signal along w/ splitter run one wire coax to the in coax to a  DVR Recorder and the 2nd out coax wire as a back feed to mirror the recorded programs as well as any channel selected, will this adapter accommodate my purpose? If not do you have any suggestions that will?

No, this device is meant to add an internet device (e.g. computer, DVR, network switch, etc.) to a wired network because either a WiFi Signal is either impossible or not practical.

I use two of these devices to ensure any devices that can be hard wired are connected with cables since it is more reliable than wireless.
