I purchased one of these only to find out it my Arris router won't use both its ethernet ports and Moca. But I still need Moca to transport my network to other locations in my home (have been doing this for years, but recently switched from sat to cable).

If I buy another one, will the two establish connectivity with one another? Or does something else need to establish the moca network and act as controller?

I don't think that another one of these units will help you.  I would give Actiontec a call and explain what is going on.  They were very helpful when I had a setup question.
