Whats the max range for wifi on this unit?

In my house all of our connections to the modem use direct Ethernet wiring.  I do not use wireless at all.  However we use to use wireless and the range was fairly good.  Too good actually.  However I tried to boost the security someone was tapping into to download illegal movies, porm, etc, and I was getting blamed on it.  So I terminated the wireless and the complaints stopped.

Question 2

I need to upgrade to cable modem with >25 Mbps. Can this wireless router be used with a cable modem?

There are much cheaper, and more reliable routers that would fit what you need. I have owned a number of these dsl gateways and would suggest you look elsewhere.

Is this compatible with Verizon?

I don't Know if it is compatible with Verizon. I am using it with century link and believe me, I am having a blast with it. The best DSL modem router out there in the market for me. I have not had any kind of problem at all with it since I bought it.

Question 4

I have a Actiontec PK5000 from Centurylink.  Is it out dated as I am having alot of internet problems with alot of buffering? It looks just like the Actiontec GT784WN-01 and I don't see it showen as a recommended centurylink modem now?

It isn't quite the same modem, the PK5000 was rebranded, it is one they still use.  You can use it up through the 12MB speeds in my experience.  Anything faster and you need a modem that can handle more speed.  I upgraded our internet speed recently and I am still having issues with the internet despite work I've had done on my computers and network.  Hope this helps.

Does this model support WDS?

Since I do not understand WDS, I do not know. The modem works fine ethernet connecting my computer to my DSL as well as my smartphone wirelessly.

CAN I USE THE PHONE IN MY HOME WITH IT?

Yes, but you need the dsl filter and another phone jack. The GT784 only has one phone jack for dsl input, no second jack for the phone output.

can this work with a wireless router without being attached together all the time with an ethernet cable?  I have dsl and this modem with Centurylink and a belkin router with dual band. Can't find the answer.

No.  This modem/router must use an Ethernet cable to communicate with another router.  It does not have WISP (or WWAN) capabilities.

Not the same, this one will work with Century Link. This is the one I chose to purchase to use with their 12MB speed.

will this replace the windstream modem?

I did replace my Windstream modem two years ago with the GT784WN router and it is even better than the Windstream. I am quite happy with it.

How good is this modem with windstream?

I replaced my Windstream modem/router with this Actiontec over a year ago with better dependability than with the Windstream. I did have to contact the vendor for help with the setup as Windstream is not on the pre-installed list but it works great. I recommend it. I have been with Windstream for many years.
