I notice this modem doesn't have antennas my dlink2750b has 2 wich should I use?

Not sure exactly what your question is...I had the older Actiontec with dual antennae; I have not noticed any difference in coverage or signal strength with this unit - it is wireless and includes 4 wired ports as well.
Wireless-N is disappointing - not necessarily a fault of the modem but the way the spec is written. It seems to drop back to G (or just quit) and disconnect me on wireless due to (I suspect) neighbors wireless interference. The ~5GHz wireless is the way to go but I don't know if one is available for Verizon which is the provider I have. I switched it back to G mode - no problems. Does have the newer encryption modes so it's OK.

You connect to your phone line via phone cable, You have to
have a internet provider(mine is Verizon). Go through a tutorial
to set up connection, security password(so neighbors dont steal 
signal). 
You can connect to computer via ethernet cable.
It has a wireless function also. You can connect your 
computer or laptop via the wireless within the range of the 
device, depending on walls , floors, distance.
You can also connect wireless to your smart phone , tablet , 
or smart tv(netflix, etc)

I have the D-Link 270B wireless router that verizon provides.  It is always dropping connection to the internet .  I have talked to Verizon many times and they always say they will fix it but don't.  Would this router eliminate that problem?  Does it havebetter range?

I tried to answer your question but I kept getting edited whenever I referred to anything by its name.  Weird!  Not familiar with the router you are using but I too had initial problems and verizon finger pointed at action tech and a.t. finger pointed back at v-zon.   I finally figured out that streaming music was too much for v-zon "high speed" internet and connection would drop a lot.  I went through a period of a few months of turning off a.t. router, unplugging and plugging back in hoping it would reset itself.  No matter what v-zon techs tell you, only push reset on unit as a last resort - otherwise, you need to do a complete setup with passwords and all as unit defaults to factory settings - quite time consuming.    a.t. techs were responsive to questions and issues (via email).  Like you, I purchased v-zon approved equipment so there wouldn't be the finger pointing.  Ha!  Unit seems to have basic range.  No problem for desktops.  With laptops - I think a booster signal always is helpful if your living space is 1000sq. foot or larger.  I would buy a.t. equipment again - they do stand behind their products.

Is there a way for me to get internet on my smrtl phone wherever I am?

The wireless portion of the DSL modem/router (the router part) will provide wireless access within whatever range you get from the router - usually in the home right around the home.   Your carrier ie.  Verizon, should offer you a plan that allows you to access LTE (4G) networks via your cell phone but this requires you to have and use a data plan-  if you have this you can have internet access anywhere there is Verizon service.   Other than that, you can get devices that make your smartphone a hotspot but again, it requires a data plan and uses a lot of data.  Hope this is helpful.

how do I change the wifi channel of the device?

Open a web browser.
Type in 192.168.1.1 in the url
This will access the actiontec router/modem settings.
May need user id and pasword. 
Default user id is  admin
Default Password is  password.
Go to the tab for wireless setup.
One of the choices to change is the channel.
I believe ch 11  puts the wireless in the strongest signal.
Scroll around and check out other changes a user can access. 
Internet search help is very useful.

How to receive wifi signal with out  cable hooked to it?

You have to connect by finding the network and connecting to it using the password.  This password can be found on the router.  My old desktop computer is unable to connect via the wireless network because (as I was told) it does not have the internal capability.  I hope this helps.

I still am waiting for a response to my email requesting info on poor service on the 3rd floor (my GT784WNV) is on the lowest level.  Should I get some sort of booster to improve quality of service, or what?  Thanks a lot, Ron Stone

Ron, my home is a single story, built as a long rectangular fashion that goes on forever. In building the home some 20+ years ago, I placed LOTS of installation within the walls to make it a quiet but also o help with the AC temp and the Heat system as well. Also the Study I use as the "PC" room ins located on the front portion. That being, the signal is very weak, if in fact I can get on to the device I'm wanting to use. The short story is that I had to PHYSICALLY MOVE the Modem I was using to a more central part of the home. My son and I strung wires in the attic and thru the final wall in order to make that connection. I did consider using Relays and such hardware advertised and advocated by the various Modem companies. My son, who is the REAL computer tech guy and two customer service guys at the local giant electronics company told me no to use those pieces of hardware if I could avoid it. Why? because they said that if the system does a "hiccup" that it's harder to locate which and where any problem n=might be at and also to update the software of each piece is a pain. Hope this helps out some, but depending of the maker of your Modem, I'm sure that they make or provide for WiFi Extenders that might work for you. Good Luck ! - HW

I live in a 3 story house, with the Actiontec GT84SNV router located in the bottom level.  The service to the top floor is not that great and intermittent at best.  What do you recommend for the next level router?  Thanks, Ron Stone
