Question 1

Is the LEGEND 710 a worthwhile upgrade from a SATA SSD?

Accepted Answer

Choose the LEGEND 710 if your computer has an available M.2 slot that supports NVMe and you want higher rated sequential transfer speeds: its 512GB model is rated up to 2,400 MB/s read, while a representative 500GB SATA SSD such as Samsung’s 870 EVO is rated up to 560 MB/s read. Choose a SATA SSD if your system lacks an NVMe-compatible M.2 slot or you need a 2.5-inch SATA drive. Actual results depend on the system and workload.

Question 2

Should I get the LEGEND 710 or a PCIe Gen 4 SSD like the WD Blue SN580?

Accepted Answer

Choose the LEGEND 710 for a compatible PCIe Gen 3 system or when its price and included heatsink fit your needs. Choose the WD Blue SN580 if your system supports PCIe Gen 4 and you regularly move large files or want higher rated sequential throughput: WD lists up to 4,000 MB/s read and 3,600 MB/s write for the 500GB SN580, versus 2,400 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write for the 512GB LEGEND 710. A Gen 4 drive can also operate in many Gen 3 systems, but its speed will be limited by the system’s interface.

Question 3

ADATA LEGEND 710 512GB or Samsung 980 500GB—which should I choose?

Accepted Answer

Choose the LEGEND 710 if it costs less and you mainly need an M.2 NVMe drive for everyday computing, games, and light creative work. Choose the Samsung 980 if its higher rated sequential speeds matter for your workload: Samsung lists up to 3,100 MB/s read and 2,600 MB/s write for the 500GB model, compared with ADATA’s 2,400 MB/s read and 1,000 MB/s write for the LEGEND 710 512GB. Both use PCIe Gen 3 x4. Note: ADATA’s official specifications list 1,000 MB/s maximum write speed for the 512GB LEGEND 710; the 1,800 MB/s figure applies to its 1TB model.

Question 4

Is the 512GB LEGEND 710 enough, or should I get the 1TB version?

Accepted Answer

Choose 512GB if you need a lower-capacity drive for an operating system, applications, and a modest game or file library. Choose 1TB if you want twice the storage and higher rated write performance: ADATA lists up to 1,000 MB/s write and 130 TBW for the 512GB model, versus up to 1,800 MB/s write and 260 TBW for the 1TB model. Both are rated for up to 2,400 MB/s sequential reads.

Question 5

Will this SSD work in my laptop or desktop?

Accepted Answer

It can work in a system with an available M.2 2280 slot that supports PCIe NVMe SSDs. Check the computer or motherboard specifications first; having an M.2 slot alone does not confirm NVMe compatibility.

Question 6

Is 512GB enough for work and creative projects?

Accepted Answer

512GB can suit an operating system, applications, documents, and a moderate set of photos or video projects. Large media libraries and multiple active projects can use that space quickly, so consider how much storage you need or plan to add.

Question 7

Will the included heatsink fit in my laptop?

Accepted Answer

Check the laptop’s available space and SSD specifications before buying. This drive includes a heatsink, and some laptops may not have clearance for an SSD with one; fit depends on the specific model.

Question 8

Does this SSD have DRAM, and is it suitable for everyday use?

Accepted Answer

It does not have a dedicated DRAM cache; it uses Host Memory Buffer (HMB). Its stated sequential speeds are up to 2,400 MB/s read and 1,800 MB/s write, making it a PCIe 3.0 NVMe option for general storage and everyday computing. Actual performance depends on the system and workload.

Question 9

Does the LEGEND 710 have DRAM, and does that matter?

Accepted Answer

No. The provided specifications list no DRAM and support for Host Memory Buffer (HMB). A Reddit discussion about the LEGEND 710 also asks whether it has DRAM. If you specifically want an SSD with onboard DRAM, this model does not meet that preference; compare its price and intended workload with alternatives.

Question 10

Is it worth choosing over another budget 512GB NVMe SSD?

Accepted Answer

The Reddit comparison found in the discussion does not establish a universal winner: the choice was framed around budget and basic use, with commenters disagreeing about the alternatives. Compare current prices, warranty terms, capacity, and whether you prefer a drive with onboard DRAM. The LEGEND 710’s listed trade-offs include no DRAM, HMB support, and 130TBW endurance.
