Yes, there is provision for a lanyard.  
The "two holes" are the end opposite to the end shown in the photo.

Yes there is.  There is a little hole on the edge with a metal pin inside to hold a string.
By the way, it is a fast flash drive.  My only con is that it does not have an activity LED like some of the Sandisks.

is this both usb 2.0 and 3.0 and does it work with windows xp and windows 7 ?

All USB 3 thumb drives are backwards compatible to USB 2.  This is a very very slow USB 3 drive but it's flawless and doesn't overheat.  You can get the 128 GB version on eBay for $7.95 with free shipping.  That is a reflection of its lack of speed.  I have one, copied some music onto it (109 GB worth) while I doing other things and am perfectly happy with it.  Do not buy Silicon Power - it gets too hot to touch and commits suicide rapidly.
