is there a different with the student version versus the reg pro?

I haven't found a difference. It's just cheaper. There are extra steps involved in purchasing a student version. You have to verify your current student status by using a domain registered email from the school you attend. There may other ways to verify you are a student, but its been a while since I bought this product.

Is this the version that allows you to change pdf's to word documents and visa versa? As well as OCR and search the document for specific words or terms?

This is the same Adobe Acrobat product as the regular professional version but at a discount price for teachers and students. So, yes - you can change pdfs to Word documents and vice versa, check OCR, search, etc. - all the same things you can do with the non-educational version. You have to demonstrate you are a teacher or student to get this special price.

Does this software enable you to extract/add a page to a .pdf document?

Yes, you can add and subtract pages easily. There are a bunch of other tools that come in handy. You can also crop a page, so if maybe your copy was too far to the left, you could crop the right a bit and make it center your image.

I am running Windows 7, however the box indicates it will run with Windows 8 32-bit and 64-bit.

Can you edit scanned PDF images from a copier to your email?

No! Certainly not directly. Scanned documents become "images" in the pdf document. These images would have to be processed by some optical character recognition [OCR] algorithms or functions and so converted to "text" before they could ever be edited.

did it only come in downloadable version?

I bought the DVD version.  I had downloaded the evaluation version and then purchased the DVD.  After filling out the registration and emailing a copy  of my student ID.  I was quickly sent an authorization code and I was able to license the evaluation product without having to reinstall.  It was all very smooth and well done.

what is the difference between the student / teacher version of Adobe Acrobat vs. Professional  version?

I contacted Adobe regarding this one and they said Profession and the student/teacher has the same features. The only difference is discounted price and in order to get the student/teacher version you must submit proof of eligilibity for it.
