I am not aware of any limitation with regard to when you activate the code. I would imagine that if you did, right away, it would just add more time before your existing subscription expires though so I can not think of a reason to wait until then.

Here's the answer I got from support when asking if this was for new subscribers or could be used for people who are already subscribers

TLDR: It's for anyone and will extend your current subscription if you are currently on the yearly plan. If you're on the monthly plan, cancel your plan first to use this code so it doesn't create parallel and simultaneous subscriptions.

Here's the transcript from support:

The Newegg code is for a prepaid annual plan (1-year subscription).

🔹 How Adobe Handles It

Same plan type (monthly → monthly) → the prepaid time would just extend your subscription automatically. ✅

Different plan types (monthly → annual or different apps) → Adobe cannot directly merge the subscription. Instead:

You could redeem the annual plan on the same Adobe account, but it may be treated as a separate subscription, possibly running in parallel.

Your monthly plan will continue to be billed unless you cancel it.

You cannot “convert” the monthly plan to annual prepaid automatically through redemption.

🔹 Options

Option 1: Cancel your monthly plan first, then redeem the Newegg annual code.

Pros: Your account just runs on the annual plan.

Cons: Any unused time on the monthly plan may be lost.

Option 2: Keep your monthly plan, redeem the annual code as a separate plan.

Pros: You don’t interrupt current subscription.

Cons: You now have two subscriptions on one account, which can get confusing.
