The xm-37u is connected using USB 3. They include a cable for hooking up to a USB 3 19 pin motherboard header that breaks out to two male USB 3 Type B connectors which then plug into two female USB 3 Type B ports on the back of the card reader.

Has anyone successfully used this with Windows 10?

I had it installed in a Windows 7 PC with a dual-boot to Windows 10 Beta, when I was beta testing Windows 10. It worked fine as a card reader. The software they provide creates color coded icons in Explorer for the various card slots. I don't recall if it worked with Win10 or not.

Question 3

My case has 5.25 front panel bays, so this is a bit small as is. Does anyone know what adapter will work with this reader? Or will this work with any, regardless. My case is Corsair Carbide 500R.

I have bought 4 of these for my recent builds.  It fits perfectly in the 3.5" bay so I would think that any 5.25" to 3.5" front bay adapter would work fine.  Screw holes etc. are identical to the floppy disk.  This is a great Card Reader and reads any format.  It does require a USB 3.0 internal connector and my case had USB 3.0 ports too and unfortunately my motherboard did not have enough internal connectors to accommodate them both.  Had to add a card to use it.  The cable for this thing is a monster and is hard to wrap up neatly inside the case.  I wish they would have made it more flexible and less obtrusive as it definitely inhibits air flow inside the case.

Does this include some sort of a driver disk, or does it solely use windows driver(s)?

windows drivers, how ever i recommend you get a name brand version of the reader. i got this to transfer my photos from my cameras cf card. the reader worked for 3 weeks and now wont read from any card standard. i guess new egg ain't what it used to be back in the 90s.

Will this work with ASUS Maximus VIII Hero? Mine looks like it has a 19 Pin USB3_34 header.

I dont see any reason why it would not as long as your case dose not use up both usb 3 slots on your mobo and is roomy.

one thing of note is that the cable is long, thick, and unruly and does not like having pressure applied to it.

so when making the connection ensure the cable is secured and not pinched or being forced in a way to cause it to be easily disconnected from the usb 3 port on the mobo.

you may find in that in a cramped case,  you may need to fiddle with the cable to ensure proper connection  between the mother board and card reader.

after getting that worked out there should not be a problem .

and before you install it test it first out side the case to ensure that every thing works as it supposed to . so in case after the install the usb side or card reader side  ends up not working.  you know the cable is some how situated in a position causing a bad connection and rectify the problem with a better cable position.

Shouldn't by transfer rates be > 37.7MB/s, especially to a SSD?  I installed the latest driver.

Never tested the transfer speed.  I do know that copying my files from my nikon digital pics from my Lexar 4gb 133x speed compact flash drive is many.. many times faster than on any other card reader I have ever used.  By far and away the fastest data transfer I have seen.  If you have a software that will test transfer speed.. I will be glad to test it.  Just let me know what you use and where to get it..

Does anyone know what spec revision the CF reader on this has?  Is it UDMA7, or is it an earlier revision?

Long enough to go to the back of any motherboard if this is mounted in the front of the PC.
