Your Perfect Pour-Over Coffee Guide
Step By Step
Heat Water: Boil fresh water. For best results, aim for 194-205°F (90-96°C).
Prep: Grind your beans to medium coarseness. Place a filter in the cone, rinse with hot water, and discard the water.
Measure: Start with a coffee-to-water ratio of 1:16. For a single cup, that’s about 15 grams of coffee to 240 grams (or ml) of water.
Bloom: Pour 30–50 ml of hot water over grounds. Let sit for 30–60 seconds.
Pour Slowly: Add water in a slow, steady, circular motion, from the center to outside. Keep grounds submerged.
Your brew is ready in 2-3 minutes.Enjoy!
Tips for Mastering the Pour Over Technique
Practice Makes Perfect: Don’t be discouraged if your first few attempts don’t yield a perfect cup.
Experiment with Ratios: Experiment with different coffee-to-water ratios to find your ideal taste profile.
Water Quality: Use filtered water for the best results.
Why is my pour-over coffee sour or bitter?
If your pour-over tastes sour, water didn’t extract those sweet notes long enough. Try a finer grind or a slower, gentler pour! For bitter coffee, water lingered too long with grounds—opt for a coarser grind or slightly lower water temp.
