Alphacool Core DDR5-RAM Module - 2 pcs RAM Water Block, Aluminum, Black (17631)

The Alphacool Core DDR5-RAM Module - 2 pcs is a set of two black aluminum RAM cooler modules for standard desktop DDR5 RAM (UDIMM), the basis an Alphacool D-RAM water cooler is screwed onto. It is not compatible with RDIMM modules (Server & Workstation RAM).

How it cools

Alphacool says the DDR5-RAM modules are able to reliably cool RAM modules of the 5th DDR specification. For mounting, the RAM is clamped firmly into the modules with the help of the enclosed thermal pads, which Alphacool does to achieve an optimal cooling result. The Ram cooler is compatible with modules that are populated on one side and with those populated on both sides.

What the loop needs

The Core DDR5-Ram cooler only provides the basis for mounting the Alphacool D-Ram water coolers. These are screwed onto the module, and the RAM can thus be actively cooled with water. Due to the unchanged compatibility with those coolers, Alphacool says the modules can be easily installed in the cooling loop. The manual adds that full functionality needs a separately available Alphacool water cooler.

Alphacool's note: these RAM coolers are only compatible with RAM modules that follow the JEDEC standard layout. RAM modules with LEDs on the PCB or with higher or modified PCB designs may not be compatible.

Mounting

Before mounting, the manual says to check the height of your DDR5 memory, because the PCB height may vary between revisions. The contacts of the RAM must protrude far enough to reach the RAM slot. For double-sided memory a 0.5 mm pad goes into the cooler, for single-sided memory the 1.0 mm pad.
