Alphacool ES Inline Particle Filter 2x G1/4" IG Fitting, Acetal, Black (13888)

The Alphacool ES Inline Particle Filter 2x G1/4" IG is an inline particle filter with two G1/4 internal threads, one filter per pack. It comes from the Enterprise Solutions product range and catches dirt particles from the cooling loop. In this way it protects sensitive components such as pumps or the fine cooling fins.

Flexible installation

The filter can be integrated at any point in the loop. However, it is important to ensure that it is facing downwards after installation. The flow direction is specified: the manual says it is marked with an arrow on the product. Alphacool's data sheet lists flexible positioning in the server housing and easy maintenance among its points, and says the part reliably filters impurities.

Function

The screen filter is a metal sieve with a large surface area. Due to that area the flow rate of the coolant inside the filter decreases, allowing the suspended particles to settle to the bottom. Alphacool says that lowering the flow rate within the filter has no adverse effect on the general flow rate of the loop. If deposits show up, the manual says to clean the system.

What the loop needs

By default the filter is equipped with two adapters, so thanks to the two supplied G1/4 connectors it is compatible with all G1/4 fittings, Alphacool connectors included. Removing the enclosed adapters leaves two G3/8 threads, which Alphacool says gives maximum flexibility in system design. A loop takes two fittings, one for each side.

Notes

• Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
