Alphacool ES 4U Reservoir with D5 Top, G1/4, Acetal, Black (15392)

Alphacool's ES 4U reservoir has an integrated pump top for a D5 pump and was designed to be mounted directly in the front of 4U servers. It measures 121.6 x 101.2 x 70 mm and has four G1/4 connections. Note: no pump is in the box, and the one shown in Alphacool's installation example is not included in the scope of delivery.

Enterprise Solutions series

This reservoir is a development for Alphacool's Enterprise Solutions series, a combination of pump top and expansion tank made for powerful D5 pumps. According to Alphacool, the positioning of the reservoir in the enclosure and the acrylic cover used make maintenance and control of the water circuit much easier.

Connection options

There is a total of 3 inlets and one outlet, and all connections use a G1/4 thread. 2 inputs sit on the acrylic cover in the front range, and Alphacool says the reservoir can be perfectly filled or emptied via these inputs. The input and the output for integrating the reservoir into the water circuit are located on the back. The manual marks the four ports IN, FILL, OUT and IN.

Assembly & maintenance

The ES Reservoir goes into the front of a 4U server rack. The acrylic cover allows visual control of the water cooling level, while its G1/4 inlets allow easy filling, draining and venting of the loop. For mounting, the manual shows a bracket and 6 M4x6 screws in the 4U server case, with the tubing routed either out to the front or inside the case. Those 6 M4x6mm screws are not included and must be purchased externally.

Compatibility

The integrated pump top is compatible with all original D5 pumps as well as all Alphacool VPP pumps. The pump retaining ring, a pump O-ring and all screws for the pump come with the reservoir. The manual mounts the pump on the reservoir with the 8 M4x10 screws.

What the loop needs

You still need the pump itself, from our D5 pumps, and two G1/4 compression fittings for the input and output on the back. The two plugs in the box close ports you do not use.

Notes

• Use only clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses, which can void the manufacturer's warranty.
• For refilling, the manual recommends only clear coolant (not UV) from Alphacool's own production.
