alphacool 13339 vpp apex pump

The Alphacool VPP Apex Pump is a water cooling pump for D5/VPP pump tops and reservoirs, sold as the pump alone with its O-ring. It measures 65 x 65 x 41 mm. Alphacool also sells it with a top: the Eisdecke D5 Acetal V.3 set and the Eisdecke D5 Acrylic V.3 set.

Properties

• Pump: VPP Apex, for D5/VPP tops
• Size (L x W x H): 65 x 65 x 41 mm
• Rotational speed: 2500 - 4500 RPM
• Maximum flow rate: 340L/h
• Maximum pumping head: 4.25 m
• Connections: 4-Pin PWM | SATA

Features

Alphacool calls the Apex VPP a powerful pump. It doesn't use a spherical bearing and relies on a ceramic axle instead. The coils of the motor have been moved from the inside to the outside. According to Alphacool, these changes have the effect of a fundamentally more stable and smoother running pump, and any vibrations that arise are significantly reduced. Another positive side effect Alphacool names is that power consumption has been almost halved as a result.

Power supply

Compared to Alphacool's Eispumpe, this pump is not powered through a 4-pin Molex connector. Instead it is connected to the power supply using a SATA connector, and all of its power is supplied that way.

Control

A 4-pin fan connector connects the pump to the motherboard or to an external controller. Through it the speed of the pump can be read and controlled via PWM signal, which allows you to control its speed range and read out the RPM signal.

Compatibility

Alphacool states that the pump is compatible with the most popular D5/VPP pump tops and reservoirs.

What the loop needs

This is the pump without a top, so it needs one before it can run: a D5 pump top or a reservoir that takes a D5/VPP pump. The manual shows the pump with its O-ring and the two connections to make: 4-Pin PWM and SATA power.

Notes

• Note on application: please use the pump only in conjunction with clear, transparent water cooling fluids. Alphacool warns that the particles and additives in Pastel liquids can clog and permanently damage water cooling products such as radiators, pumps, coolers and hoses. Alphacool adds that this can result in voiding the manufacturer's warranty as well.
