Pros: The sound range and quality that comes out of these speakers is good. They have a nice setup to them for easy installation. The individual Treble and Bass controls make it nice to just turn off the bass if you need to keep them quiet. Good price for the amount of sound out of them.
Cons: They cannot handle a lot of deep bass or loud music. The frequency range is nice but the really deep bass tones cause problems for the satellite speakers. Easy fix I just opened the satellite speakers and put in passive high pass filters in them with a capacitor and a resistor. I have the filters set for about 200 Hz. That is where the sub starts to really put out deep sound.
Overall Review: They are nice but I agree with others who have reviewed these speakers. They are not for doing studio audio work or large audio file work. They are nice for games and movies that don't have large explosions. I have owned 3 sets of Altec Lansing speakers and for everyday use they are the best for the amount of money you pay for them.
Pros: Affordable with average to above sound quality.
Cons: All of the cables connect to the right speaker which limits where you can place these on your desk. Worst of all is the short cable to plug into your sound card. I had to buy a headphone exetension cable to plug it into my PC.
Overall Review: Overall - not bad for the price and beware the short cable.
Pros: Low price, subwoofer, good sound quality at low volume, pleasant appearance, auxiliary input on the speaker for iPods/MP3 players, bass and treble adjustment on the speaker.
Cons: Not the best quality when turned up loud.
Overall Review: Great price/performance ratio.
Pros: For the money it would be hard to beat this $25 dollar system. I expected a much cheaper tinny sound from a system priced this low but was surprised to hear how good and room filling the sound was. The base is good.
Cons: The high frequencies are weak. Because the speakers are so light the tension from the wires can tip them over. They feel cheap and you have to hold the speakers in place to adjust the knobs because the knobs are short and hard to grip without moving the speaker. But again, for the money sound quality is quite good, but these cons are worth mentioning so you are not surprised.
Pros: Im no audiophile but I think these speakers give a great sound. I especially love the subwoofer. The right speaker has a general volume control plus individual bass and treble knobs. The headphone and auxiliary jacks are also quite convenient.
Cons: My single argument is that the only power switch/button (not just turning the volume to zero) is located on the back of the subwoofer which is really inconvenient if you ever want to actually shut them off. Although this isnt that big of a deal as I dont normally do this anyway.
Overall Review: I know a lot of people have complained about the instability of the speaker bases, which is true, but it is not as bad as people make it seem. I really dont have any problem with it as the only one you ever need to touch is the right one with the knobs, but even then there are all the power and sound cords weighing down the back of the speaker. Otherwise it would tend to fall forward.
Pros: For the price tag these produce a relatively full, rich sound. The bass is strong, even a bit boomy. The package is attractive, with cables of adequate length. The addition of AUX input is pretty cool - I can switch over to my MP3 if I want without unplugging from the PC.
Cons: The main speakers are quite light. This doesn't affect their output, but it means that doing anything to them requires two hands: one to do the work while the second anchors the speaker. Even turning the volume is tough without pushing it off the back of the desk.
Overall Review: The crossover of the bass/treble controls seems ill-matched to the speakers' envelope. You'll probably need to use an equalizer in your PC to get the output frequencies balanced well.
Pros: Loud, lots of bass (however, read below)........ Perfect speakers for 30 bucks. However, if you are an audiophile these speakers are not for you.
Cons: Bass is a little touchy. you have to change the bass depending on what you're doing too which can be a pain, but then again it might be your preference of what you're doing. I listen to many different kinds of music, and there is no one correct setting for all music. As i said before, bass it touchy, treble should stay at max.
Overall Review: Giving this 4 eggs due to the touchiness of the bass. However, this isn't a large problem. i got used to the dial within a day. ~~~~~~~~little secret to the little "falling over" problem people are talking about: You can use your ipod dock to put your speaker in. It won't fall over then. lay it down lengthwise, and stand the speaker up. try is both ways. My speakers haven't fallen once. stand doesn't get in the way of anything, and it isn't a hinderance of anything. I never notice it's even there. it's just a part of the speaker. 2) i also recommend this because the dials are hard to grab. putting it on the ipod dock deffinately helps 900% on that.
Pros: Very clean clear sound. Good bass and I like the seperate adjustments right on the speaker.
Cons: A little top heavy
Overall Review: Great sound system for the price......it's a great value!!
