Is the trackpad good quality? Like I am not looking to game with the trackpad.. but just usable for internet browsing.

Trackpad Review:
TLDR: The pad tracks fine.
Having used this laptop for six months now, I can say that the trackpad is of good quality (4/5 stars).
It is a hard brushed face, similar to the aluminum chassis, making it durable and smooth.
It is set very well (is level with the case), which is something I had trouble with on an ASUS.
The part where it loses a star is the plastic buttons, which make a rather solid click sound (sometimes a bit annoying if you're not in the habit of simply tapping the pad for clicks). Additionally the buttons have a gap (business card's thickness) around them which might accumulate unwanted debris over time.

Can the keyboard backlit settings change the RedGreenBlue to a single White color?

Kind of!
Using the Steelseries Engine 3, which you may need to download on your own, it is possible to change the keyboard in 3 zones to whatever RGB you want.
However, the RGB's are funky in the way that when they are set to white, you can still make out the individual points of R, G, and B. So, it glows "white", but if you stare at it, something looks "off".

What kind of battery life does this laptop get?

As with any electronic device the battery life is dependent on usage.  I can generally get 1 - 2 hrs of really high-end gaming from the battery with the system in sport mode.  In eco mode I can get about 5 - 6 hrs gaming and 8 hrs office/productivity.  It's not great, but that comes with the territory.

Question 5

I am having a problem deciding on which machine to purchase.  This one or the Asus ROG w/ SSD and HD... I am also having a problem deciding whether or not to go with 4 or 2GB of VRAM.  I have read complaints on both systems including BIOS issues and Software issues.  Does anyone have any recommendations?

I love the MSI Laptop. I purchased for my girlfriend.
It's constructed very well, (LOTS OF ALUMINUM NOT PLASTIC) runs super fast, no issues out of the box and it doesn't come loaded with a bunch of bloated software that you don't need. WiFi is super quick!
If you plan of gaming (first person shooters) on any laptop you may want to get 4GB or more on the video card. 
I have not had any issues whatsoever with the MSI and I'm actually thinking about purchasing a second one for myself very soon.

Am I able to change the color of the backlight to black? I find backlit keyboards to be distracting.

I guess the better way to word it is "can I turn it off?", And the answer is yes. There are three levels of dimness, and an "off" option. You can adjust this with the keyboard

looking at this to play fallout4 and bioshock, is this strong enough to play on reg settings?

I bought this for my son that's going to college.  He plays BF4 online with it (not sure what settings ). If you are using this for gaming, you may want to jump up to the 970 GPU version. Overall he is very happy with it though.
