Will this work on a laptop with only USB and HDMI ports?

What I can tell you is that the adapter works on my Lenovo that has both USB and HDMI ports.  I run 2 - 27" Samsung monitors (T278B350; and a C27F398) using this Adapter. Of course, the 15" screen on the computer is also working at the same time.  The T27B is set to run off of the serial input, not HDMI.  The C27F is connected to my computer using a HDMI cable (the C27F will not work off of a serial input, it is HDMI only).

Before purchasing the D27F, I had 2 - 27B Samsung's connected to my computer, and before that a Dell 27 (wore it out) and the 27B.  In all cases, the Aluratek was used to drive 1 monitor while my computer video out ran the other.

The net result:  3 monitors.  I run the external monitors on "extended desktop" setting for maximum flexibility.  The Samsungs are both 1920x1080 resolution.

FYI:  I have 3 Alurakek VCAdapters working at my office and/or home.   Once installed (takes some time), they work flawlessly.   We are a law office, and they are used 14 hours + per day everyday.
