Yes, this graphic card is part of AMD's new line of workstation graphics cards. I purchased four cards for two workstations at work, supporting a total of eight monitors on each computer. I suggest also picking up eight ten foot mini display port to DVI cables also if you do not already have them.

Will this video card on its own support 4 monitors?

Yes, 4x 1080p will work just fine. 4x 4K will work as long as the monitors are not internally seen as 2 1920x2160 tiles via MST (for example Dell UP2414Q is such monitor. Only two of those max). 4x of Dell P2415Q will work.

Question 4

Trying to find a graphic card for a 2.8 quad core mac pro (early 2008) but pci cards cause black screen according to all forums I've seen.  Are there any newer cards available?  The stock ATI Radeon 4870 512MB isn't able to handle video editing.  Been looking for weeks...

I am happy with the card. It is not designed for gaming but to excel in graphics. I don't edit video but us this for publishing and photo editing.

You current card is more for gaming and also doesn't have enough memory. I calibrated the card and found it to need very little adjustment (used Spyder3 for calibration with bright level of 95 candles)

I believe this is the newest version of this card. Price is right for a graphics workstation card unless you want or can spend a bunch more for a high end. I don't regret my purchase.

Yes.  I have two installed and just updated to W10.  Worked fine after the W10 upgrade from Vista 7Pro.  Depending on your application, you may want to download and install AMD's latest drivers for the 4100.  Something I also did with no issues....

Is this backward compatible to work in a standard PCIe 2.0 x 16 slot?

Yes, they're physically the same and pcie3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0, so it will work 100%.

I have a UHD Samsung monitor with only HDMI ports.  I need audio and video from the card to the monitor.  How do I connect this card to the monitor?

Audio and video can be carried through both HDMI and DisplayPort. DisplayPort is the best you can get however if you only have HDMI to work with you can get a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, then HDMI out to your TVs.

Per HDMI licensing protocol they do not allow a straight cable connection directly from DP to HDMI you have to use the adapters. Do a search on Newegg for PN 900691. It is Mini DP-M to HDMI-F. The HDMI is 4k version 1.4 . You will need 4 of them or one for each TV you plan to use. In addition to HDMI cables (make sure to get the UHD ones).

the FirePro W4100 is a great card. It has 4 x Mini DisplayPort connections. Teh card comes with only ONE Mini DP to DVI adapter (makes no sense giving only one but that is what you get.)

I am attempting to build a workstation for CAD (inventor and auto cad specifically). I was wondering if any one would know how a GTX 660 compares to this card (I understand consumer v. workstation). I was originally planing on getting both but after some investigation, the GTX may work better (I have not found conclusive evidence just similar cards (same family)). What are your thoughts? I can't help you with an exact answer to the question because I don't have the GTX 660.  I bought the AMD FirePro because I needed 4 display ports.  From what I understand, I can link multiple of these cards together to, meaning if I want 8 displays on a single desktop, I can link 2 cards.  The only thing I would say is I have noticed that the screen has blipped a few times in the first few weeks of using it and I did have a blue screen once.  However, I haven't had any problems after the first 2 weeks (I'd estimate I have been using it for 2 months total now).  So, if I were making a recommendation, I'd suggest considering if you may have the need for more displays at a later point.  Also, I'd suggest the same card line with higher memory as I think that would have solved my initial blips.  Hope this helps!

Would this be able to drive a 2560x1080 and two or three more 1920x1080s? I'm looking at a ultrawide and two vertical 1920x1080s on a windows machine.

I run 3 Asus ultrawide vertically plus one Asus 4k but have two W4100 installed.  I believe I could run them all through one but have never tested it.  I have to presume that it will run 4 regular resolution without any issues.  If you go this route, make sure you buy cables that do not have a bulky MiniDisplayPort end as there is not a lot of room between ports at the card.  4 of them in-line will get crowded quickly.  And they Mini's are inherently somewhat flimsy.  But I have never had an issue with the card itself.

For my 2nd system I opted to go with 2 of these: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card (about 18 months ago).  Because I wanted to get away from the Mini to standard cable search and wanted a more robust connection at the card.  Working equally well for my application.

Lastly, I would recommend you get the better cables that are compatible with 4K in case you want to upgrade later.

Which power supply will work best for this card? I understand I need 500W minimum, but what about further details? I have an ATX motherboard. Do I need an ATX PSU or a ATXV12 PSU, is there a difference? My motherboard is very basic, and i have an i5 CPU with 8GB ram and a 500GB SSD. I am building a workstation for solid works and autocad for college. Which power supply would be best?

Kevin any standard 500w ATX power supply will work fine. This card does NOT require any power connections on the card like some gaming cards do. However this may not be the best card for what you are doing.

We have built many systems specifically for SolidWorks. I would highly recommend using the W5100 over the W4100 for this purpose. It is a lot more powerful video card and certified for Solidworks CAD.

Since you are only using an i5 CPU vs an i7 for CAD, you should beef up your video card at least to make up some of the difference.

I am not sure what you budget is but the 8g of memory might be a little light as well. Maybe take that to 16g at some point.
