Question 1

How long is the range? and is it a transmitter or a receiver??

I have been able to get 35 feet through 3 walls  from an ipad to stream music to my sound system. The quality of the music is very satisfactory with no dropouts. I was going to immediately answer that it does not transmit, but I can't say 100% positive on that. I don't believe it can be capable of it since the audios jacks are the only interface and they are audio out, not in. Don't know of a device that does both audio in and out on the same jack. Very pleased with the unit.

Question 2

Does this receiver disconnect paired devices after some period of being idle? I've had other devices that turned off after an idle period.

This device does not turn off or disconnect. However, when paused it makes a tiny sound similar to a pop on my system. It is a hit like cutting off the signal but it never really does. It's on 24/7 no matter if it's connected or not. I have had mine almost a year and I'm pleased with it. Not as crazy distance as I thought but it performs much better compared to other cheap products. It's a safe buy.

How is Mihai D. going to stream video with a Bluetooth device?

As this device has no third output for video, only a white and red connector from a 3.5 connector, I don't know that it streams video. I use it to bring stereo to my vintage receiver from my computers music collection which it does very well in my opinion.

What is the max range of device?

The range depends on interference. With no walls or obstructions i could connect from over 50ft away. Indoors it would transmit across 3 bedrooms.

This module i have has a faulty power connector where it has to be wiggled to make a connection. The terminal feels loose inside the module. I would not recommend this  module unless it is deeply discounted. When its connected it works great but thats if the plug remains intact.

Question 5

Does this device pair from multiple Bluetooth devices and do I need to manually disconnect previous connected devices when I want to play from a different device?

I did buy this 2 & 1/2 years ago and I'm not sure if newer software might have changed this, but I do have to disconnect devices manually to connect others.  Sometimes I'm not sure which device is connected, so I need to power it off and on.  But this is has excellent distance, a good 40 feet.  I enjoy it a lot.

Can I use this to connect my Laptop with Windows 7 playing Pandora to a wireless speaker anywhere in my home?

Based on my experience using this device, it's doubtful you would be able to maintain a bluetooth connection between a laptop and this device throughout a house (depending on the size of the house).  I've only used this with my phone, though.  I've been able to go about 50 feet if there is near-direct line of sight.  I definitely lose connection between floors.  It's possible a laptop may put out a stronger signal and therefore have a greater range.

I specifically bought this blue tooth device for,  the range.   I live in a four bedroom,  two story home.  My device sits on the back wall in my kitchen which is 29.2 feet from my front door.  There's about another 38 feet from my front door to my mail box, ,  I use my Samsung Note 3 to connect to it and play music With No Problem.  I can go anywhere in my home and it stays connected. I just bought portable bluetooth speaker for my bathroom, but when I get the extra cash I will be buying another one of these Amped long ranges for my theater system,, It was definitely worth the price I paid because I use it alot, especially in distance.

does this do well to connect to a soundboard of a PA system? Want to use in a church and auditorium for wireless of a computer to a sound system.

It would likely work fine, however the sound quality is not as good as I would like, the fidelity sounds compressed, it is MP3 afterall, but a mp3 disk sounds much better. So if you are not too demandING of the sound quality, then it works great. Very cool gadget, stream all over my house from my phone.

Question 9

Will this Amped work with my iMac and a blue tooth wireless speaker to listen to Sirius XM and Pandora Radio?  Want to use the speaker on our patio and the blue tooth signal breaks up a lot.

If your bluetooth speaker has a 3.5mm audio input jack this will work to play music from your iMac. You connect to this device via Bluetooth from your mac. But this device will not act as a Bluetooth relay if your speaker does not have an audio input.

What DAC (digital-to-analog converter) is used in this device and what are its capabilities?

I do not have any technical information to provide.  The BTSA1 is connected through the RCA adaptor into my older Sony receiver to play music from my iPhone.  I am completely satisfied.
