I bought mine just last month, did NOT come with new firmware. Is a good monitor but it is also free sync range of 45-144 not 35-144, it doesn't support 35-144 naively and never will, needs proper drivers. 
(can download the non-certified drivers online to supposedly fix the range, I'm using them currently but in the AMD panel still says 45-144 but it could really be 35-144 and the drivers simply display the monitors true default range)

On the bright note free-sync is simply amazing paired with 144hz coming from a standard 60hz monitor and the price range is still unbeatable for a decent 144hz free-sync. Colors/brightness need calibration but its fairly easy to do.

I am on a decently tight budget so I couldn't afford a 300$+ free-sync and even with its issues this monitor fit the bill for me and if it continues to work as it should it was a worthy buy.

I just ordered this monitor and it shipped today, I am hoping it is the newer version with the lower range. Can anyone who has ordered it in the past week or so confirm what version theirs was? thank you

Probably an inch or two the most.  Don't have a ruler but its not bigger than a penny

Because these are retail, no. To get the updated firmware, you must send the monitor in to AOC. This may be extreme though since the ghosting isn't noticeable (imo.)

Windows 10 should find the most recent drivers you need automatically (but not the beta ones). The drivers in the disk were the old ones for me. They can be a little difficult to find online if Windows can't find them unfortunately.

The new one that can do 144Hz with overdrive enabled? I purchased mine in November 2015 and it does not have this feature.

I don't remember the exact weight but it is quite heavy, as for the quality... It's top notch. Great color for a tn panel and 144 he is really something. Very well built

Does this monitor's single DVI port support 1x Dual Link DVI so that the full refresh rate can be used if you only have a Dual DVI output option?

It does. However, FreeSync only works with DP since it's a VESA spec.
