I'm looking for a matte screen. How can I tell if this monitor is matte or gloss?

Hey, I have bought this monitor a year or so and I can say I think it's a matte but the monitors bezel is very glossy and you will see a lot of reflections through the bezel. I would still do more searching to find out because I had to find out about matte or gloss screens gloss screens have a lot of reflections in them while matte everything is very blurry reflections. I would say it's a good 1440p monitor for the price.

What is the refresh rate?

60 hz at all resolutions, however there is this weird thing where the default is 59fps; you can still manually change it back to 60 if you want. There is a noticeable difference, but honestly it's hardly a problem being at 59. It seems to reset to 59 if you are adding/removing extra monitors or hard shut down your comp from power outage or whatever. Super easy to change back, I highly recommend this monitor, it works wonderfully. Follow that one guys suggestion, turn down the brightness when you take it out of the box and you'll be set for life.

what is the size of the round support of the screen?

Ummmm....? the what of the what? It's a 27inch screen with a relatively small bezel.
