do you need a cd reader to install some kind of software in order to use the monitor? cause my mac doesn't have a cd reader

You don't need any software to utilize the monitor. It takes some tweaking to get the colors perfect, but that can all be done via the buttons on the monitor. I recommend not keeping this monitor on 100% brightness however, as this thing gets very bright and causes a bit of eye strain on that setting.

Does the monitor run 4K at 60Hz or 30Hz?

The monitor runs at 60 as long as you are connected via a cable that supports it (such as the included display port 1.2 cable). The FreeSync range is 40 to 60 so if you have a FreeSync capable card it will stay buttery smooth in that range.

Does this monitor support windows 10? its just that it says that it supports windows 8 just making sure it supports windows 10

Running mine on Windows 10 just fine.   Video card and driver support are what matters.   You will want to make sure you have displayport capable of 4K@ 60 FPS

Does this monitor run at a higher refresh rate at lower resolutions. For instance if I wanted to set a game to run at 2k resolution would I get a refresh rate of, say, 120Hz?

Michael, right click on Steam (or any game exe you run ie gtaV.exe) and under compatibility check disable display scaling on high DPI settings (and run as admin of course). Steam looks 4k and sharp as can be. I did this because my "Steam overlay" wasn't lining up correctly while in games. Was like my mouse pointer was off. Windows 10 my default turns on 150% DPI scaling FYI

How does this run on an NVIDA 960 using displayport? I realize the freesync wont work but how is it otherwise?

I am currently using it on a GTX 660 and looks great. Plays games like poop at 4k but 1440p looks almost as great and amazingly this 660 runs GTA at 1440p at 60FPS. But, for my next card I will probably go ATI for the use of the freesync.

The refresh rate at 4K is 60hz with either DisplayPort or HDMI 2.0. Most TV's, older video cards and HDMI cables use HDMI 1.4 and will not run at 60 fps at the full 4K resolution.

Does the monitor work well with NVIDIA cards?

Works very well with a EVGA GeForce GTX 960 with 4GB memory. Beautiful picture, crisp performance, and a relatively quiet fan. I have no complaints. I'm not a gamer however so I'm not trying to squeeze the nth degree of performance out of it.

It's a 60hz monitor. Free sync is effective from 40 to 60fps.

Does this monitor use IPS or TN technology?

TN I noticed a huge difference in 4k vs 1080p in colors.  Everything looks better on this monitor but it needs a powerful GPU to run games.  I would recommend crossfired rx480s or the nvidia gtx 1070 but you loose the freesync with the 1070.  All in all like others have said, for the price this does not disapoint.
